Most benefits start on day 1, and the package offered is quite extensive.

Company perks seem to only apply to the corporate office and not to local claims offices. Very happy with the 401k package. Premiums for health benefits are a little pricey. Surprisingly there are no (or minimal) discounts for auto/home insurance. I would think that would be a major benefit when working for an insurance company.

Great PTO days and wellness incentives. No growth potential.

Good 401k match and still offering a pension. They also offer a pretty inexpensive high deductible medical plan. With the high deductible plan, they give you money in an HSA to help with those costs. It's actually a pretty good deal.

Best thing is generous PTO. Worst thing is until last year the company was divided between those that had defined benefit pensions and those that did not. Since Allstate froze their DB pension plan, this shouldn't be an issue going forward.
