Former General Manager in Baltimore, Maryland

401 k and vacation is ok. The bonus program is flawed and places too much weight on goals that can only be met by luck. The highest bonuses are paid to store managers that had big retail stores open across the street or had a competing restaurant burn down accounting for huge sales increase. Profit margin and normal sales increases get you nothing.

If you were lucky enough to get full time hours and be eligible for benefits they were good. Offered health insurance, vacation time, 401K

Bonuses are very small until you reach GM, you pay about 15% of your pay for their insurance and you still have tons of out of pocket costs if you use it, you get 1 week of vacation for your first 2 years, but they tried not to give any of the new managers vacation at all this year (and yes, it did specify that we would get it this year in our contracts. We did get it, but we had to fight for it), lastly one 3 day weekend a month is written into your contract, yet somehow this is at the discretion of the GM and some of them refuse to do it.

It takes 8 years before you get more than two weeks of vacation and it is extremely hard to get any time off around holidays.

benefits are a joke. I had health insurance for a while and it's crap the deductible is outrageous. 401K you can't draw out unless you are old enough to retire even if you need it for other personal reasons!
