Best thing about benefits package is the health insurance which is great and cost is on the low side. However worst thing is if your host institution is in a town where their current health insurance company (which is BSBC at his point), you will have difficult time, finding in network providers. Worst thing is there is no investment of years spend in the HHMI as postdoc, they scraped the 401(k).

As an intern we didn't get a benefits package. We received a stipend for the few months we were there.
