Average benefits. Surprisingly for a company that is trying to fix healthcare, their heath insurance options aren't that great.

Should have better healthcare for a health company

The health insurance is surprisingly poor coverage. Otherwise, the package is comparable to other places I've worked. There are a few "gimicky" perks that are talked about a lot - like a free fitbit. I wish the focus was on health ins.

The perks of working in R&D are great in the main office (donut Fridays, beer fridges, game nights, desk budgets, etc) but most of this doesn't expand to other teams or locations. The amazing culture of Watertown has trouble translating to some of the other offices.

The healthcare plan is constant iterations on expensive and mediocre. The 401k match is decent but not competitive (low match, long vesting period). Perks seem to be brought in as leadership wants them for themselves (i.e. sabbatical, part-time/flex hours) but with little thought of how to benefit the overall workforce (no professional membership reimbursement, tuition reimbursement program isn't practical).

In other words, I'm able to check 'yes' in a lot of the boxes but the implementation of the benefits is sometimes lacking.

PTO is generous. But benefits are lacking. Very expensive and even more expensive for families to afford. Seems a lot of people who have a spouse working elect for the spouse benefits.

For a company that's doing great you'd think that they would be more generous with what percent of the plan they cover. It basically broke down to a 60/40 (employer/employee) responsibility and I think that is still the case today.

From talking with others, it is apparently pricey. But dental, vision, prescription and health are all available.
