I applied in-person and the process took a day - interviewed at Aéropostale in January 2012.
Interview Details – The hiring manager interviewed me one on one and she asked very simple questions like, "Why do you want to work for us, Why should we pick you over the other applicants" etc.
I applied in-person and the process took a day - interviewed at Aéropostale in June 2011.
Interview Details – I applied in the store and I automatically got to sign up for a "group interview" without bias. I showed up a good 15 minutes early, most of the group showed up on time and a few were late. Sadly the lady who was interviewing us was late as well so my earliness and the group's lateness went unnoticed. Because this was a mall, we went to a lounging area and split off into two smaller groups. We were all asked a series of simple questions. Finally, we had to say something like "Hi, Welcome to Aeropostale!" I never got a call back, I bet they hired the chick that showed up 5 minutes late. /life
Interview Question – Describe a time you had to solve a problem Answer Question
I applied through an employee referral and the process took 5 weeks - interviewed at Aéropostale in November 2009.
Interview Details – The store manager that interviewed me wasn't very focused on me, her questions, and my answers due to the fact that she was the only manager on duty. She often walked away with no warning to tend to employee's and customer's problems. I could tell that this was a very stressful job from this interview (because it was in store). I could also tell that this manager didn't deal with the stress very well.
Interview Question – How long would it take you to get here from school/home? Answer Question
I applied in-person and the process took 4 days - interviewed at Aéropostale in November 2009.
Interview Details – I applied during a job fair before the store was open. They had a quick back and forth there, which I didn't know was an interview. But I got called back for a second interview with the store manager and a store manager from another Aeropostale. After a half-an-hour interview, with situational and general questions, I was hired!
I applied in-person and the process took a day - interviewed at Aéropostale in April 2012.
Interview Details – I have been looking for a job for a while and Aeropostale seemed ideal since I am 16 and would feel comfortable in their atmosphere. I went in and asked for an application, filled it out then and there and handed it back. A little over a week later I called back to follow up and the manager looked through all the applications he got, found mine, and said to come in the following day for an interview. When I went into the store for the interview and asked to meet the manager I was told would be interviewing me, he actually was not aware that the interview was set up because apparently he was not informed. He took me to the front of the store where there was a spot for me to write and I filled out some paper work. Next he asked me a few general questions about myself and my work ethic. Next he asked to describe three characteristics of myself which I did. He then continued to tell me about the different zones of the store, how its encouraged for employees to wear Aero clothing, etc. After more brief talking she actually said right there, well I would actually like to offer you the job! I accepted and was told that if I could get my working permits in by the next week I would be able to attend orientation. The employer interviewing me was very nice and everyone there seemed to genuinely like each other. Two days later when I came in with my work paper I handed them into a different manager who was working at the time and he was absolutely wonderful. He made a few funny jokes and commented on who he had heard great things about me. The atmosphere presented has made me excited to start my work!
Side note: though I had a one-one interview, I have known girls who had a group interview with up to six others applying for the job,I am not sure what distinguishes whether you get a one-on-one interview or not.
Interview Question – Describe three qualities about yourself that make you suited for this job. Answer Question
Negotiation Details – I did not negotiate my $8/hr salary because I have no retail experience and am still a minor, therefore I felt minimum wage was acceptable.
