Interview Details – I was a part time associate while attending college, when I approached graduation the management team talked to me about the MIT program. I interviewed with the District Manager, got an offer within 2 weeks and started at a location within the geography we discussed. The DM had asked me to list my preferred locations in order and explained the flexibility they would expect from me as a progressed with the company. The interview took about 1 hour, behavioral questions that require you to speak to specific examples from the past so come prepared with good examples of leadership.
Interview Question – Speak to an example of when you made a difficult decision without a lot of information. What steps did you take to gather information, what influenced your decision, and how did you explain it to others to gain their support. Answer Question
Negotiation Details – no negotiation

Interview Details – Submitted an online application and set up an interview with the District Manager. Met at a coffee place in the mall for a casual interview. DM took the time to get to know me, explain the job duties, career paths within the company, and tried to sell me on considering the position. Half way through the interview I knew I was going to get an offer when the DM changed "if we extend you an offer..." to "when you work for us".

Negotiation Details – No negotiation was done, or could be discussed that I am aware of.
Declined Offer – Interviewed in Canton, OH Mar 2013 – Reviewed Apr 9, 2013
Interview Details –
I called into a store inquiring about the position and was told to come in and apply in store. The manager had me apply on an in-store computer then set up and interview with the District Manager for the next week. Interview was 1.5 hours long. started off very relaxed and conversational and then eventually got into basic situational question. None were difficult and he did not seem to interested in my answers. Wrote down brief summaries of my answers in his binder.
After the interview he told me I would hear from him in a week. Didn't hear from him so I called one week later. He told me he was making calls for second interviews that day and asked me to come in for a second. Second "interview" was just explaining the position more and making me an offer. This time he was selling me the position.

Reason for Declining – Salary, schedule. Better offers elsewhere.

Declined Offer – Interviewed in Schaumburg, IL Aug 2012 – Reviewed Mar 23, 2013
Interview Details – Sat down with General Manager at a nearby bench in the mall, she started off by asking me to "walk her through my resume," followed by pretty typical questions such as "what's your greatest weakness?" and "why should I hire you?" The interview lasted about 30 minutes. I went on a slow day so the staff seemed pretty laid back.
Interview Question – I didn't find any of the questions all that surprising but perhaps the one that could be challenging if you don't have retail experience is "how would you handle a difficult customer?" Answer Question
Reason for Declining –
Managers there seemed overworked and underpaid. I know the job routinely requires you to work over time and OFF THE CLOCK (yes, illegally), because every week you're given an arbitrary, fixed amount of hours to get everything done and you can NEVER go over them or get in trouble. Despite the ever-changing amount of hours corporate is willing to pay you and your staff if the store doesn't look perfect every morning then all heck rains down on you and only you.
Every manager I've known that has put themselves through this goes in thinking something better will come out of it, but nine out of ten cases they end up leaving for another store or to work at a bar. In the latter case I'll see them on my Facebook newsfeed telling me about half-priced nachos and $5 margaritas, forcing me to block them.
Accepted Offer – Interviewed in Nov 2012 – Reviewed Mar 4, 2013
Interview Details – Stopped by A&F to buy a sweater. Then, got asked if I lived around the area because they wanted to recruit me. I said no, but ended up getting a recruitment card anyway. I checked the positions I could apply for online. Since I have a BA, I applied for the MIT position. Got a call the next day and asked to stop by their store. I met the store manager who was suppose to interview me. But, all she did was ask me if I had a BA and when will I be available to meet with their DM. No interview at all. On my way home, I got a call from the SM. She asked me if I am available to meet with the DM in two days. After two days, I met with the DM at the same store and was asked really simple questions about my resume/experience and some situational questions. After a couple of days, I received a call from another DM who offered me the job. During the interview, I asked to be placed near a certain city - which they did. Really easy process. Sad to say but all you need to do is look good for this job.
Negotiation Details – No negotiation. Everyone starts the same depending on the city you're in.
Accepted Offer – Reviewed Feb 25, 2013
Interview Details – Very easy and comfortable. Everyone that is in the company is on the younger side. They ask very standard questions based on retail experience, dealing with people on a difficult project, how you deal with angry people, etc. The district manager will take down notes based on your answer.
Interview Question – Pretty standard. How did you solve a conflict among a group? View Answer
Negotiation Details – No negotiations. The DM will call you within 2 weeks and tell you what they're offering for the location and what store you will be placed at.
