    Difficult Interview

    Application

I applied through college or university. The process took 2+ monthsinterviewed at Accenture (Philadelphia, PA) in April 2015.

    Interview

I submitted my resume through my school's job posting site back in mid-February.

    1. Received an invitation to interview on campus. Interviewed with a partner. It was basically a conversation and walking her through my resume. She was very nice and made it extremely relaxed.

    2. Notified that I received a second-round interview. This happened on campus two days later and was also with a partner. Again, it was very conversational but a little more behavioral. He asked me questions about working in teams and leadership, something Accenture always asks about, and why consulting.

Then I didn't hear back from them for a month and a half, so I moved on. Then I randomly received a phone call one evening in early April and was told that I would have a final-round interview in their Philadelphia office. I scheduled it for the upcoming Friday because I had an approaching offer deadline for another company.

The recruiter sent an email to me telling me what to expect in the interview process. There would be two 45 minute interviews, one case interview and one closing interview.

    3. The case interview was with a managing director. He asked me a very obscure case question, which was an actual problem he was working on with one of his clients. He told me he didn't like to ask the generic case questions. The interviewer wanted to see my thought process about the problem. We talked about the case for about 15 minutes, after which he said we could just stop. He was more focused on getting to know me than the case itself. He then proceeded to ask behavioral questions: Talk about a time when you didn't get along with a teammate and how you worked through that. Tell me how you've shown leadership. Walk me through a project you've done. Why consulting? Why Accenture? They want to see how you work in teams.

    4. The closing interview was immediately after the case interview. The interviewer asked a lot of similar behavioral questions that were asked in the previous interview. He also asked me what my greatest strength and weakness are. He gave me a lot of time to ask questions, so use this time wisely. I think my knowledge of the company and enthusiasm about the role really showed.

I received the offer a week later.

The offer was very generous. You can expect a base salary, signing bonus, and relocation bonus, along with the performance bonus at the end of the year.

Situational/ Behavioral Interview: They ask probing questions, but I was prepared because of all of the Glassdoor questions posted here. They really stick to the questions I've seen on this site, and even if the question is not exact verbatim, if you've thought of examples, you can definitely apply them to most questions.

    Interview Questions

    • 1) Tell me about a time when you had to face a difficult obstacle. What was the outcome?
      2) Tell me about a time you managed a conflict.
      3) Tell me about a time when you did something you have never done before.

I applied online. The process took 3 weeksinterviewed at Accenture (Chicago, IL).

    Interview

Was contacted by the recruiter for an initial phone screen. Received a follow up to interview in person about a week later. In person interview consisted of a peer interview, a skills interview and then a confirmation interview.

It really helped to be super informed about Accenture and it's culture. They also had me solve a problem on a white board but they walked me through the entire thing so it wasn't bad at all.

    Application

I applied through an employee referral. The process took 4 weeksinterviewed at Accenture (Houston, TX) in March 2015.

    Interview

    1. Phone Screen with HR. Asked about what I know about the company, why do I want to work there, and went over my resume.

    2. 2 Phone interviews involving Behavioral Questions and Case Studies. Each interview was 1 hour long, 45 minutes for the Case, and 15 minutes for the behavioral questions. Both interviews were with current Consultant level employees.

    3. In Office Interview. 1 hour presentation on the company. 1 hour case interview. 1 interview called a "confirming" interview to check how I fit in with the culture, my leadership skills, and my future career aspirations. Both interviews were with current "Manager" level employees.

Everyone that I talked to was very nice and helpful and honest.

    Interview Questions

    • Case interviews were very straight forward. Much easier than what you would expect from MBB. But they made you think. One was a Mergers and Acquisition, another was on demand forecasting, another was on ways to increase revenue after bankruptcy, and one was on improving cash flow.

Know what differentiates the company from it's competition, why you want to work there, and be ready to give examples of ways to have showcased your skills in the past.

      Answer Question

    Negotiation

I was told that there is No Negotiation for entry level analysts (on base salary). I over a year of experience, and they offered me the same as someone right out of college. But the offer is very fair for the market.

    Interview

Two phone interview which were pretty easy and asked questions like "when is an example when you did this..." They all were easily relatable to any internship or previous job. Then I had a 3 hour interview with an Analyst, Specialist, and Manager. This was a little more in depth, they wanted to see if I had experience that would make me a good fit for an Analyst position and to make sure I would be able to fit with the team.

    Interview

Applied through my career center after attending a number of information sessions. I had a great perception of Accenture until my interview when my interviewer just watched me struggling with the case for 25 min without collaborating (I've gotten positive feedback/moved on/ received offers from my last 20+ case interviews so I can say this was not normal). All the questions after revolved around Accenture (e.g. what research have you done, how are our management and strategy practices different...)

I applied through an employee referral. The process took 3+ monthsinterviewed at Accenture.

    Interview

The intial process began with a phone screening performed by a recruiter. The next step involved two over the phone interviews conducted by managers in different industries. Each were behavioral before presenting a case then follow-up questions.

    Interview Questions

    • There is no way to go 50/50 with 2 case interviews. You have to ace one and at least pull 75% on the other or vice versa. Unfortunately, one of the interviewers was incredibly difficult to work with on the case study via phone. The behavioral portion is incredibly straightforward and simple.   Answer Question
