    Management Consulting Senior Manager Interview

Anonymous Interview Candidate in Singapore (Singapore)

    Application

I applied through a recruiter. The process took 4+ monthsinterviewed at Accenture (Singapore (Singapore)) in September 2014.

    Interview

7 interviews over a period of 4 months! Yes, it took that long as they've a really slow hiring process. The process can be arduous but definitely worth it in finding yourself the right fit for the role. You get to meet many stakeholders throughout the process and ascertain if this is the suite of senior leadership / management you would like to work for.

    Interview

First interview is with HR. Screening call, asking history, etc.

Second interview is behavioral/situational. This is really important because you need to explain what you did on projects and how you handled situations with clients, team, staff, etc.

Final interviews are skills oriented. I did not realize I needed to give detailed responses to technical "softball" questions. Be prepared to answer "what do you think of this" product in technical detail, not just answer softly, "I think it does this well for this area but cannot be used for that area due to limitations in this feature." That will be seen as insufficient.

If you get to the skills interviews, on site with senior leadership and/or staff, make sure you explain in detail any question asked about products. Integrate technical responses to your polished professional guidance type answer.

Make sure if you are asked by any one at any point about products, you give detailed explanations. The more technical, in my case, the better.

If you are asked questions by junior staff which are directly incorrect, make sure you correct them and then detail why. If you don't (I didn't because I did not want to call out how the junior staffer was mixing up terminology and and platforms in an open forum in front of others), you will get summarized as technically weak.

This is a great company. Follow the above and you will be fine (oh, and don't be an arrogant jerk - there was one guy who ... I'd be surprised if ACN hired him as everyone BUT him was friendly).

    Senior Consultant Interview

Anonymous Employee in Dublin, Dublin (Ireland)

    Easy Interview

    Application

I applied online. The process took 5+ monthsinterviewed at Accenture (Dublin, Dublin (Ireland)).

    Interview

The hiring process was terrible! The recruiter was disorganised and seemed to have no idea about the market value that other companies are paying. Salary expectations where discussed early and I went through 4 long drawn out interviews and was offered a salary over a 1/3rd less of what I am currently being paid.
Accenture offered a role similar to a graduate position, I have been in the industry for nearly 10 years and they knew this from the beginning of the interview process.
The length of time between each interview was on average 5-6 weeks. For the Senior MD interview I got the impression the Senior MD hadn't seen my CV or even knew anything about my role/me. Awful interview experience as a whole - the wasted my time and their own.

    Interview Questions

    • I was given a 'technical' case study, asked to read and then make recommendations.
The case study was simple and more business focused rather than 'technical'.
However, I had contacted the recruiter in advance asking about the format of the interview and was not given a response despite trying several times. The 'technical' case study was a surprise on the day.... however it wasn't difficult.

    Reasons for Declining

Unrealistic entry level, salary offer (over a 3rd less than my current salary), recruitment process, MD interview (appeared to be uninterested, hadn't read my CV etc etc)
Overall the whole process was a waste of time. Very disappointed by their whole approach to new talent and the digital industry and the offer that was made. I expected more from Accenture and was excited about the position and the chance to work there but in hindsight I had a lucky escape.

    Interview

good and very good. excellent interview

Work culture is negative. Team bonding is missing. People work in Silos, No leadership among management, do not know even how to talk, No training, Learn on your own is the only mantra!! Employee retention is worst, not even open to improvements and suggestions. Always have excuse, rejection or "my way is right" as an answer.

    Difficult Interview

    Application

I applied through a staffing agency. The process took 3 weeksinterviewed at Accenture (London, England (UK)).

    Interview

First round was a telephonic interview which was a typical basic interview to gauge communication skills and to understand my work experience, etc. This was conducted by a manager. Following the telephonic interview there was a face to face interview conducted by a Senior Executive. This was a case study based assessment. I was given a situation of company merger and 20 min. of time to study the case and prepare a strategy for the client from Systems Integration point of view. Usually for the case study there is no definitive answer, what they wanted to understand is your thinking pattern, ability to analyse the situation and different solutions/ options you can provide to the given problem. Following the case study there was a HR interview on the same day.

2nd Interview - with a senior manager, after a short intro through the resume, dived straight into scenario based questions (PFI - performance factor interview) to gauge how you've handled them. Be succinct, start by describing the scenario, steps taken to identify/troubleshoot/solve the scenario, and the final outcome.
