Interview Details

I submitted my application online, and the next day I was contacted to set up a phone interview with a recruiter. As other have said, the initial phone interview is largely behavioral. They ask you basic questions concerning your research experience, why you chose your academic institution, and why you are interested in working at the Advisory Board. The next day, I was asked for a follow up interview with an individual from the Research and Insights team as well as a timed, online, case-style question.

    I applied online – interviewed at Advisory Board.

    Interview Details

    I submitted my application online and was contacted within a week. Following a phone interview that lasted approximately 30 minutes, I was asked to fly to their offices in Washington, D.C. It was easy to coordinate that process and the recruiters at ABC were helpful throughout.

    In D.C., I had two interviews, both with personal and case based questions. Because one interviewer was sick that day, two days later, I had a final phone interview of a similar vein, in which there was a case interview question and a few questions about my interest in ABC and general interest in consulting.

    Interview Questions
    • The case questions were not extremely hard, they mostly tested your logical processes and sought to see if you asked the important questions. I don't think there were any questions that were particularly hard, but they did cover a range of personal and work experience as well as interest in consulting and healthcare. They are really interested in your writing abilities and the process by which you ask research questions and produce results from that research.   Answer Question

    I applied through college university and the whole process took about 3-4 weeks. First round was behavioral while second round was an on-site interview that included behavioral and business case-style questions. Interviewers for both asked me to describe a research project.

    Interview Details

    Initial Interview: On-campus recruiting. Behavioral. Very straightforward and every question was from Glassdoor, so read up!
    On-site interviews: They flew me to DC, which was great. There I had the 2 interviews (1 case and 1 behavioral), a snack break, and an "tentative" interview that was later cancelled. My interviewers were Senior Consultants and were relatively cold, so prepare for that if you're a cheerful person. The interview was cancelled for 3 out of 4 people I was with. The 4th guy did have his "tentative" interview. The receptionist lied profusely about the meaning of this cancellation, stating that it was simply due to the department being called into a meeting or leaving early because it was a Friday. Not particularly nice and I felt duped when I later read Glassdoor interviews that detailed this "tentative" interview trick that ABC uses to cut people. I haven't heard back yet, but those disrespectful lies alone are enough to make me not want to join this company.

    Interview Details

    First applied online on their career website and was contacted within two weeks of sending in my documents. Set up a phone interview for the following week. The phone interview was pretty normal - while I did not look at Glassdoor beforehand, I see that many of the other reviews point out the same questions that my interviewer asked. She asked me why I chose my university, a specific research project I did (and I had to walk her through my methodology), and why I was interested in working at this company. Basic standard things.

    Currently moving on to 2nd round interviews (on-site).

    Submitted resume through my university's job board. Got scheduled for an on-campus interview about a week later. The interview questions were fairly straightforward, mostly about my resume, my research experience, and a few behavioral questions. They invited me to interview in their DC office, which will happen in about a week. The on-site interview will involve speaking with 2-3 employees with case interviews and behavioral questions.

    Referral by email from current employee. Contacted for phone interview and asked to complete application on website. HR person either forgot about my email or ignored it for two weeks, but finally scheduled a phone interview. Interviewer seemed rushed and uninterested from the start. Heard back a week later that I would not be moving forward.

    i just had a first round phone interview with Advisory Board. Interview was very basic; seemed like the HR person was reading off a sheet. We had an interesting conversation and I was asked back for a second round phone interview, which I have not yet had. Presumably if it goes well I will get a third round in person interview. No offer yet, but i'm still in contention.
