I applied through a recruiter – interviewed at Aflac.

    Interview Details

The first interview wasn't really an interview - there were 10 of us prospective agents in a conference room listening to a presentation by a manager. And there had been a similar group before us. We got to ask questions at the end, and I think everybody had the option to go in for a second, real one-on-one interview. It was a pleasant interview, but the lack of challenging questions and being accepted right then and there makes me think everyone who wanted to come on board probably could. Nothing wrong with that, except it makes me concerned about saturation. It takes a little over $200 to pay for the pre-licensing course, the background check and the exam. It may be a great opportunity for somebody with great sales skills, but it's 100% comission-based.

    Interview Questions
    • Nothing was really challenging. Perhaps the question about how my previous non-sales background prepared me for this type of job.   Answer Question

Agents are not employees of the company, they are independent agents. It's 100% commission. There really isn't any room for negotiation. You do get some bonuses if you hit certain performance targets.

It was a group interview. They first gave us an overview about the company and the sales position. This was the first round. I got a call for the next one for case studies but declined the offer.

Interview process was easy, it was a group interview. Then you get a call 48 hours later for second interview. Then I realized its commission based pay only. Great people who coordinated everything.

They seemed to hire anyone with a pulse anybody who walked it pretty much was assumed to be taken on as an employee. The meeting was short, about an hour. There were a few consecutive meetings, and about 20 people in a single group interview. It was a positive interview, all telling the great things about Aflac.

First interview was with one of the top sales associates and a manager. It was more of an overview of the company and what they do. It was very interesting to learn about the company and hear all the things they do. Lots of talk about how great the company is and how great it is to work with them. Second interview was with the manager over the area in the office. It was mostly just questions to see if they like you. If they like you they call with an offer to sign on as an agent.

I applied through an employee referral – interviewed at Aflac.

This was easily the most laid back interview I have ever had. I didn't realize it was an interview. We just visited about my previous work, what I am looking for and how I could succeed. Questions I had about the company were answered completely with no reservations. After about an hour visit we both decided that this would be something worth pursuing.
The hardest part was taking the state licensing exam and then waiting for the background check to get licensed. This was the State, Aflac was easy.

Sent in resume through university career website. Got a reply within two weeks to have an interview. Interview was more informative, only was asked like 5 questions. Mostly behavioral, hiring manager went through resume. Was told at the interview that I got the internship and was given a month to decide whether or not to do it.

I applied online – interviewed at Aflac.

    Interview Details

The initial interview: There should have been disclosures about real dollar costs like office and supplies cost sharing as well as footing the cost of your travel to training, including lodging if you don't want to partner up with someone you don't know.

The follow up: I was asked to prepare questions for a follow up call, but in retrospect it seemed an in-genuine gesture to be able to say one was allowed to ask questions. Well, if one is unaware of the breadth and depth of the onboarding, then how relevant would are those questions? Answer, they aren't.

The reality: If you can't tolerate months without an income or with a very minimal income, since there is no financial support from AFLAC during months of training, all while paying out the cost of business, this is not the opportunity for you. I couldn't so I left before starting school.

The outcome: Bitter acceptance from the recruiter. I'm happy with my decision to leave. I did pass my state exam and get my license.

I applied through college or university – interviewed at Aflac in November 2014.

    Interview Details

Most of the interview feels more like a sales pitch than an interview. It is only on the second interview that they really started asking questions about me, even then, the interview was more focused on the position itself.

    Interview Questions
    • Nothing they asked was difficult, all very standard questions   Answer Question
    Reasons for Declining

I did not feel like I would have adequate support to start up. They had promised me they were going to look into some information regarding my situation and never got back to me. Did not think they were invested in me as a person as much as they are invested in getting bodies out into the field.
