I had a phone interview with Ameriprise this Dec. The interview was very short. Lasted about 15 min. The recruiting committee member mainly asked me about my education background and the research projects I had worked on.

Applied online and was contacted by a recruiter a few days later for a phone interview. I then had three different in person interviews with different team members. Two were with actual people, and the third was on site, but via web chat. Typical interview questions, as well as practical scenario response questions.

Came to college and did on campus interviews, I applied on my schools website for hiring and they came in shortly after that. We had a reception the night before the interviews which was nice to make everyone feel more comfortable. Second round interviews were a few weeks later.

First they had a phone interview basically just getting to know you, asking your basic behavioral questions. That was followed by a in person interview at their office which was a mixture of behavior and analytic questions.

I applied through a recruiter. The process took 1+ weekinterviewed at Ameriprise.

A recruiter contacted me about the position then was contacted with a location and name for the interview. Went to a panel-type interview with two people with one person mostly asking the questions and the other chiming in every now and then.

    Interview Questions
    • The most difficult was a language barrier at first with the person who shepherd me interview location then the main questioner arrived and took over. The unexpected aspect was that the main questioner seemed very tired and I was not at my best having rushed to the interview.   View Answer

I applied online – interviewed at Ameriprise in July 2014.

    Interview Details

Had an initial resume and application review. Was asked to move on to a phone interview, which went extremely well. I was then asked to take a behavioral and cognitive online exam that took 1.5 hours. They then were non-responsive for over a month and simply sent an email stating they were moving forward with other applicants. I found this rather unprofessional as I was interviewing with Merrill Lynch and Edward Jones which are better companies and both had the same exams which I was moved along within a week. I am not trying to complain but I have Juris Doctorate and was overqualified for the position. Oh well there loss and Merrill's gain!

I applied through my college career website and got a call the next day after submitting my resume. The interviewer mostly asked general questions about skills, future career goals, and my class schedule. He didn't seem to be too prepared with questions.
