    Interview Questions

    • Typical interview questions, whats your greatest weakness, are recent time when you didnt achieve a goal or a recent failure. I think interview questions aren't aimed at seeing how well a person is fit for a job but more a test to see how well you can interview, kinda bs to me.   1 Answer

    Negotiation

offered my $75,000 but I said I would need at least 80k to live in the San Francisco area and they obliged

    Difficult Interview

    Application

I applied online. The process took 2 weeksinterviewed at Ameriprise (Minneapolis, MN) in November 2014.

    Interview

I applied online, and the online application consisted of demographic questions, work experience, education, and an hour-long personality inventory.

The day after I submitted my application, I received a call from a recruiter who instructed me to log back into the application to complete the next stage of the hiring process: a simulated phone activity. This was fairly easy.

A few days after completing the simulation, I got another call about scheduling a phone interview with a recruiter. I scheduled the phone interview for the following day. The interviewer called exactly on time and asked about my work experience, why I left my past jobs, and a few behavioral questions about my work habits. It was painless. At the end of the phone interview, the recruiter told me that he was going to recommend me to his supervisor for an in-person interview, and that I'd hear back in a few days.

Two days later, I received a call from the supervisor of the department to which I had applied, inviting me in for an interview. We scheduled it for the next day.

The in-person interview was located in a conference room in the department's office. It consisted of myself, the supervisor, and another employee in the department. They told me more about the position and asked me an hour's worth of behavioral questions - many of which were unique and difficult. I asked many questions at the end of the interview and was then escorted downstairs by one of the interviewees.

About 45 minutes later, I received a call from HR with an offer!

I applied through college or university. The process took 4 weeksinterviewed at Ameriprise (Minneapolis, MN) in October 2014.

    Interview

I talked with the recruiters and a currently employee in the LDP program during my career fair. Applied online through my college's website and on Ameriprise. Was invited in for a first round on campus interview, there was a pre-interview reception the night before. Very helpful to attend, you can ask questions and get to know the people who will be interviewing you the next day. Make sure you leave a good impression on everyone there. First round consisted of 2 30 min interview. I had an interview with a VP and another manager. Got invited in for 2nd round on site. It was a 9-2 event, with 2 30 min interview again. Most of the same questions. The day included a scavenger hunt, a panel discussion with current LDP people and just generally meeting the people and touring the facility. Gives you a good look at the culture of Ameriprise. Nothing too difficult, not many technical questions, more behavioral and fit.
