Engineering Program Manager Interview

Application Details

I applied through an employee referral. The process took 4+ weeksinterviewed at Apple in May 2014.

Interview Details

I was referred via an emplyee a week before I was contacted by a recruiter. She right away scheduled a phone interview with the hiring manager without interviewing me. My phone interview (20min) with the hiring manager went well. He asked about my current position and why did I fit with their position. At the end of the call he also explained about his two job openings. I had two onsite interviews. One was Full day, and the other was half day. The full day inteview was tough. Every half an hour a new person would come in and almost none of them had read my resume so I had to go over all my experiences and education. Questions were both about my experience and personal. The second day was more technical. Interviews were so frustrating I must say. I would say out of 10 people whom I saw 7 of them were constantly looking at their cell phones and were distracted. But all of the people whom interviewed me were so nice and reasonable. Next day after the second interview I got a call from the reruiter to discuss my salary and I was told that I'm being hired. The whole process took a month.

Interview Questions
  • No unexpected questions were asked! Probably the technical questions were a bit difficult but expected...   Answer Question
Negotiation Details
The offer was too good to be true that I didn't have to negotiate it. I felt well wanted and they appreciated my years of experience and education!

I applied through an employee referral. The process took 3 weeksinterviewed at Apple in May 2011.

    Interview Details

Very thorough - three separate onsite interviews with multiple people. Initial phone call with recruiter was half an hour long, just a quick resume review and typical "what do you want out of a job" questions. Technical people asked high level technical questions, even though it is not really a technical job, to make sure you understand the technology you will support. Lots of troubleshooting questions, hypothetical situations, etc.

Know your resume! They will read it (all of it) and quiz you about it. Even stuff from a decade ago. Be honest and be enthusiastic about the company and the position.

Everyone I interviewed with was enthusiastic about working for Apple and seemed to enjoy their jobs.

I applied through an employee referral. The process took 4+ weeksinterviewed at Apple in October 2012.

    Interview Details

One of my friend forwarded my resume through internal referral system. There were 4 Phone interviews (First HR + Hiring Manager + 2 team members). Then they called me for F2F whole day interview. There were 8 F2F interviews, including 1hr lunch. First 4 interviews were all done by team members for 30mins each. Then 3 members from other team interviewed me again. Finally hiring manager interviewed me for the final 30mins.

After a couple of days, they called me again for F2F with Director and Sr.Director for a quick 1hr interview. They discussed very high level job functions and experience.

    Interview Questions

      Answer Question
    Negotiation Details
Yes, I was able to negotiate a little bit. I requested the HR to see if there is any room for negotiation. They agreed to bump the salary by 5k+.
I would have taken it without it too.
