Initial interview was a phone-based interview. I explained my current role at the time and how it would fit into the posted job's roles and responsibilities. Call helped me to understand potential hiring manager's style and thoughts.

In-person Interview, onsite, was with a range of staff, at all levels of career development. They asked some questions about my experiences and these were also behavior-based. I was invited to dinner on the night before my interview. On-site interview also involved a scientific (powerpoint) presentation.

Recruiter reached out to me regarding a contract opportunity at AZ. First a phone interview, then came in for a face to face. Was given the job the next day and had to quickly get drug testing done which took a few days. It was pretty quick.

Hiring Managers are usually required to conduct panel interviews with a member of the HR team present. Panel members will usually share a list of questions to ask each candidate. Candidates will be expected to give detailed, different examples for each question, not only demonstrating a time when they have performed a specific task, but also HOW they achieved the outcome they have achieved. For example, "Tell me about a time where you have utilized negotiation skills successfully." They are not only interested in the outcome, but how (soft skills) you achieved the outcome. Most positions are seeking global, diverse experience demonstrating a breadth, as well as a depth of knowledge and insight.

PDI contract, after 1 yr, hired on at AZ. Rare, but if you really push to shine, do as much or more that the AZ reps do, you will be noticed, not treated as a contract team member. You have to work to earn it!

I applied through college or university. The process took 2+ monthsinterviewed at AstraZeneca in April 2014.

    Interview Details

The first round interview was a 30-minute phone call from two interviewers and consisted of standard-fare behavioral questions.
The second round was 2 months later at an office visit in Wilmington and was about 1.5 hours of behavioral questions with 3 interviewers at once. This was tedious. STAR-format questions can leave you dry if you don't like to completely fabricate your life story.
The whole process was so slow.

I applied through a staffing agency. The process took 2+ monthsinterviewed at AstraZeneca.

    Interview Details

I applied to a position through Kelly Services, and received an email from AZ asking to set up a phone interview within a week. I had a conference phone interview with multiple employees, and they asked availability for an on-site interview at the end of the phone interview. They emailed me the on-site interview information in a timely manner, and I had a panel interview two months after my phone interview. All their questions (phone and on-site) were asked directly from a pre-determined list, and they spent much of the interview writing down my responses.
