    Application

I applied through college or university. The process took a dayinterviewed at Bank of America (New York, NY) in February 2015.

    Interview

2 half hour, back-to-back interviews that were 100% behavioral given by two friendly individuals that kept things relaxed throughout. Questions included: give me an example of when you've delegated, why this position, describe a difficult situation that you've been in, describe a difficult decision you've had to make, and they expected you to have questions ready to ask them. They were willing to do the interview virtually which was nice of them.

    Application

I applied through college or university. The process took 4+ weeksinterviewed at Bank of America (Charlotte, NC) in October 2013.

    Interview

Application - September: Applied through campus job posting portal.
On-campus Interview - October: 30-minute interview focusing on both behavioral (e.g. tell me about yourself, why BoA, why QMAP) and technical (e.g. project technical details, brain teaser, solve a problem) perspectives. There was a reception / meet and greet the night before the interviews to meet potential interviewers and current QMAP members. The results were out in 2 days.
Final-round Interview - October: The final day consists of a half day of group case presentation and another half day of 4 interviews (2 behavioral + 2 technical). All candidates were given a week to work on a HBS case and to turn in some preliminary analyses prior to the interview. On the interview day, candidates were assigned into random groups of approximately 6 and were required to discuss and put together a case presentation in 2 hours, followed by 15-minute presentation and 15-minute Q&A (Be prepared to answer questions anytime during the presentation). The behavioral and technical interviews were relatively less quant-oriented comparing to that of other companies. Just know your resume / experience really well and carry on casual conversations with the interviewers. Again, there was a reception the night before to meet more QMAP members in the Charlotte office and other individuals from groups that accept QMAP members. I heard back from the bank regarding the result in 2 business days.

    Interview Questions

    • How do you explain market liquidity to a 7-year old? What do you think it takes to be successful in an organization?   Answer Question

    Negotiation

Not negotiable. In fact, pretty much all leadership/specialized programs are not negotiable across firms in the banking industry.

    Application

I applied through college or university. The process took 3 weeksinterviewed at Bank of America in October 2013.

    Interview

First round on campus, straightforward questions. On qualifying, we were handed an HBS case to solve and were given a week to prepare. The super day was in Charlotte where we had a group case presentation and 4 round interviews- both technical and behavioral. The technical interviews were pretty challenging- one of the interviewers tested me on advanced statistics and stochastic processes.

    Application

I applied through college or university. The process took a dayinterviewed at Bank of America in February 2013.

    Interview

The initial interview process was simple. I applied through my school's website and then heard back to arrange an appointment to be interviewed. Once at the interview, there were two rounds. Both rounds were with an associate of Bank of America. Most questions asked were normal questions like, "what is a hardship that you have faced while at work?" or "Give an example of where you had to be in charge of others and had a disagreement with your co-workers." Overall, the interview was not too bad, although some questions were hard.

    Interview Questions

    • A difficult question that I encountered dealt with accounting, even though the position I was applying for was for a finance major. You had to know what accounts (expense, asset, liabilities) were affected in a given situation. I found this to be a little difficult since I had not gone over my accounting notes from a few semesters back.   Answer Question

I applied through college or university. The process took a dayinterviewed at Bank of America (Miami, FL) in February 2013.

    Interview

Two rounds of interviews. Mostly behavioral questions with minimal technical questions. This was my first interview for an internship with such a large company. Technical questions included if you are a bank is a loan an assest or liability, what is a default on a loan, why do banks have pre payment penalties on loans. Interviews are back to back. I found out about this opportunity on campuswith my university. Make sure to go to all the information sessions and pre interview socials.

    Application

I applied through college or university. The process took 3 weeksinterviewed at Bank of America (Charlotte, NC) in October 2012.

    Interview

The hiring was carried out through campus recruiting. The program is a 2 year rotational program with rotations in different locations starting with Charlotte, NC. The role is mostly focused using quantitative tools and analytical methods to help some of their businesses. The first round was on campus and was an hour long interview. The interview was a fit +case interview with some probability questions. I was then invited to a two day super-day in Charlotte, NC for interviews presentations and group case activity. Between the first round and the final round, I was also sent a long Harvard Business Case for a written case study that I was supposed to write up and present at the final round.

I ended up not going to the final round because of some other better opportunities worked out for me in the mean time.

    Interview

After the first round on-campus interviews, was invited to final round in NC and had 2 technical interviews and two personal interviews, along with a case study presentation with 4 other applicants.
Technical questions were primarily related to the coursework that I had taken and not too difficult, just asked conceptually definitions of things from courses.
