I applied in-person. The process took 3 weeksinterviewed at Barnes & Noble.

    Interview Details

The first interview that I went through was pretty casual. Very general questions and conversation including things like "what's your favorite book?"
The second interview with the main store manager was a little more formal and in-depth.

I applied online – interviewed at Barnes & Noble in January 2015.

    Interview Details

After submitting application online, I was contacted 4 days later about an interview. Interview was scheduled for the following day with an Assistant Store Manager.

Arrived at location and checked in as instructed. Stood around for several minutes before was greeted by the ASM.

Interview was the standard "Tell me about a time..." That you exhibited x competency as a manager in your past. This interview lasted about an hour. She wanted me to stay for a 2nd interview with the Store Manager so I sat waiting in the café area for another 20 minutes. The Store Manager came and asked more questions. "What made you apply for Barnes & Noble?" And the like.

Will possibly be contacted in the next week and a half for a peer interview and district manager interview if they are interested. Will update review after those happen.

I applied for the job online and did not hear back for a few weeks. When I did hear back, it was just an e-mail saying the position had been filled. I do not have retail experience, but I do have work experience and believe I was qualified for the position.

I applied online. The process took 3 weeksinterviewed at Barnes & Noble in November 2014.

    Interview Details

Applied online and was called the next day for an interview.
The interview was about 30 minutes and I felt really comfortable. It was a group interview so I was in there with one other girl. It was relatively simple. The interviewer was really chill, and there were two of them...one who wrote the answers

The initial interview was very relaxed, taking place in the B&N Starbucks Café. It was the manager that interviewed me and I was asked very general questions about what I would do in certain situations and how I would deal with customers. The position I applied for was a seasonal job, so I strongly believe that scheduling hours around my class times was the key reason I was not offered the job.

I applied online. The process took a dayinterviewed at Barnes & Noble.

The interview was easy in my opinion. They first start off with a phone interview just getting to know you and then invite you for a face to face interview. It was a 1 on 1 interview and asked simple questions. Basically they ask about your work experience and ask what kind of books are you into and why you decided to apply for the position

    Interview Details

I submitted my application online a few weeks before and received a called about a group interview. The group interview was very laid back. They only asked us to do 3 things: 1) Introduce yourself 2) How would you recommend a book to a customer? 3) How would you sell a membership to a customer?

They interview you two separate times, each by a different manager. They are very friendly and the atmosphere is relaxed. They ask you basic interview questions regarding your experience. Most of the questions relate to your previous experience, but they also ask a little about your dedication to books.
