Very Easy Interview

Front End Engineer Interview

Front End Engineer

I applied through an employee referral and the process took 2 weeks - interviewed at Bazaarvoice in May 2014.

Interview Details – I was referred by a friend and applied. The interview process itself was not bad(phone, test, in person) and one person was friendly enough but their ego seemed to get in the way. The in person interview at the company was the most revealing. If you still want to waste your time going through the process with them, the in person interview should have you running far far away and as fast as you can.

Interview Question – None. All questions we're very simple/basic including the test.   Answer Question

Reason for Declining – I talked to an employee and friend about the company and the company has problems. No individual growth potential for about 80% of it's employees. The company is not sure where it is headed and a very high turn over rate.

Technical Success Manager Interview

Technical Success Manager

I applied online and the process took 2 weeks - interviewed at Bazaarvoice in November 2013.

Interview Details – First interaction was a phone interview with a recruiter, very straight forward no difficult or unexpected questions.
Next, was a phone interview with a hiring manager. I was asked mostly behavioral questions about situations I had been in and how I handled them.
I was then given a technical assessment. I worked with HTML, CSS, JavaScript and JQuery. It was straightforward and not too difficult, but it was timed.
Lastly, I was brought in for an on-site. I had multiple back to back interviews and the last interview administered a second technical assessment.

Interview Question – Using JavaScript, display a paragraph of content when a specific button is clicked.   Answer Question

They asked various questions, including coding, sql, behavior questions, etc. The interviewers are nice.

Sales Director Interview

Sales Director

I applied online and the process took 4+ weeks - interviewed at Bazaarvoice in September 2010.

Interview Details – There were multiple rounds of interviews. The first interview was with a recruiter. The next 2 interviews were phone interviews, one being a screening interview in which they rejected me, when I continued to persist they moved me to the next interview. 2 In person interviews and a sales presentation to a group. The group presentation is terrific and allows a sales person to shine. This is where you can close the deal!

Senior Recruiter Interview

Senior Recruiter
Austin, TX

I applied through an employee referral and the process took 2 weeks - interviewed at Bazaarvoice in May 2010.

Interview Details – Bazaarvoice's interview process is very structured and detailed. I was put through the process, told what to expect and a recruiter followed up with me every step of the way. He was thorough, friendly and a great champion of Bazaarvoice. The process was efficient and I knew exactly what to expect.

Interview Question – I was asked right off the bat what I would do in my role in the next 90 days. This was before I had been asked to prepare the presentation so I really had to think about that question!   Answer Question

Negotiation Details – I felt like I negotiated as best as I could. The offer was a little disappointing but they were open to negotiation and in the end I received a fair comp package.

I applied online and the process took 3 weeks - interviewed at Bazaarvoice in August 2010.

Interview Details – After a recruiter contacted me, I was given a skills assessment to complete within a specified time frame (1 hour). Once completed and scored, I had a couple brief phone interviews and was then brought in for half a day of face-to-face interviews.

The interview was focused on culture fit, communication and technical acumen.

Interview Question – Nothing stood out as particularly difficult or unexpected.   Answer Question

Negotiation Details – I was given an offer I was pretty happy with, so I took it, though I negotiated for extra stock options.

Software Engineer Interview

Software Engineer
Austin, TX

I applied through college or university and the process took 2 days - interviewed at Bazaarvoice in October 2012.

Interview Details – Absolutely the best interview process I have been through for a software engineering position. I interviewed as an undergraduate student looking for a full-time position, and I really enjoyed their recruiting process. I flew out for an on-site, where I had several interviews, and all but one were technical in nature. I had lunch with some engineers, and dinner with some managers and a recruiter. Conversation was casual and non-technical in nature, which I appreciated. The employees are all very well-rounded, which is rare in the software industry. After dinner, all the people I had dinners with, managers included, followed up with personal emails. Later in the week, the CTO called me up and made himself available for questions. Overall, I got the impression that they are a great company with a recruiting process that shows how much they value their employees.

Interview Question – My non-technical interview asked me to explain what Mock Trial (a debate program I'm involved in) is and how it works. I wasn't expecting this from a software engineering interview.   View Answer

Reason for Declining – I found another position at a different company that better suited my interests at the time.
