Very Easy Interview
I applied in-person and the process took a day - interviewed at Best Buy in June 2009.
Interview Details – I was interviewed by the customer service manager and then by the general manager in the same day. It was very relaxed a very friendly environment.
Negotiation Details – You told them what you wanted and for most of us they gave you what you asked for.
The process took 1 week - interviewed at Best Buy in November 2011.
Interview Details – I applied online one day and a few days later I got a call last Thursday. This was the phone interview. She asked me a few questions like how much do I want to work at Best Buy, what positions I want, and my availability. That was it. She then set me up for a 1:1 interview with some sort of management for the next day, which was Friday. I went in (in slacks and a nice dress shirt) and the interview lasted about 40 minutes. He asked me lots "describe to me a time when..." scenarios. Describe to me a time when you went above and beyond for someone, describe to me a time when you worked with someone you didn't get along with, etc. After all the typical interview questions, he asked me if I had any questions. ASKING A QUESTION IS GOOD. Prepare your question now, if you have none ask something you already know the answer to. It shows you have legitimate interest in the company. After he answered all my questions he shook my hand, said the interview went well, and I should be receiving another call for a third interview with the General Manager sometime next week (this week now). That call came on Wednesday of this week, from the same lady, and we set up the third interview for Friday (yesterday). I went in wearing the same slacks and nice dress shirt. This last interview was a lot more relaxed and fun. The interviewer was very laid back and was overall a nice guy. He asked me a few of the same "describe to me a time when..." but not nearly as much as last time. He then asked me about myself. He proceeded to talking about what positions he wanted me in, and how they worked (this is my first job). He then offered $9 an hour, asked me to sign some stuff, gave me the drug test, and said to expect a call scheduling training and orientation. Currently waiting on that call and the drug test results.
Interview Question – Describe to me a time when you had to finish a task or project that you didn't know how to do and you had no help. View Answer
Negotiation Details – I asked for $7 an hour, they gave me $9 an hour, which is 75 cents higher than minimum wage in Nevada, AND this is my first job, so I thought that was very generous, and I of course accepted.
Very Easy Interview
I applied online and the process took 1 week - interviewed at Best Buy in October 2010.
Interview Details – I originally applied online in July. I reapplied in August after I mastered how to pass the personality test. Luckly my reappliying/updating my account paid off because I got a call for an interview out of the blue in September. The day before the interview I got a call from one of the managers and I was told to wait seven days because somethin' came up with the manager so all interviews were postponed. At the interview I met with a lady and the first question she asked me was, "So what makes you a super star today?". After not laughing in her face, I answered the question the best to my ability. I was asked the basic interview questions with her. She liked me so she passed me along with the assistant manager and he asked me the basic questions as well. I charmed the pants off him because then I was passed along to the GM for the final interview for the following week. I just got home from that final interview and I was told to give a Drug Test. And I should be starting next week for a two week training course. Good Luck, Everyone else! :)
Negotiation Details – No negotiation. I was just given a packet with my starting wage on it.
I applied online and the process took 3 days - interviewed at Best Buy in July 2010.
Interview Details – So, I was taken to a room. The assistant supervisor spoke to me one on one, and asked me questions about the company. She really liked my responses, and was really flattered that I took my time to do homework and do some research on the company. Later, she asked me "what if" questions, such as difficult situations that may occur while at work. She could tell I was nervous, but that didn't hold her back from inviting me to the 3rd interview with the GM. I'm still waiting for their call. It's been 10 days. I've called them almost every day! It's pretty funny how the girls that pick up the phone seem annoyed by me now. Yesterday I got the thumbs up that I'm definitely on the list to get called in for the 3rd interview :)
