I applied online and the process took 2 weeks - interviewed at Best Buy in October 2013.

Interview Details – The first interview is with your potential supervisor and with the department manager. They ask you normal questions about you and about the work you have done. They also ask you about hypothetical work place situations. The second time is with the General Manager and its more of that person talking with you to see what type of person you are and to see how much you really want to work there.

Interview Question – What do you think the penalty for an associate shop lifting should be?   Answer Question

I applied online and the process took 2 weeks - interviewed at Best Buy in June 2014.

Interview Details – I had mutiple interviews with Best Buy. Ill run through all of them.

First Interview: Over the phone, basic questions like "How would you rate Best Buy?". Simple non-personal questions.

Second Interview: In store, with either HR or Manager of the department. That is where they ask the more personal questions. Ill list a few.
Name a time when you went the extra mile for somebody.
Name a time when you had to work with somebody you didn't like.
Name a time when you had to do something on your own without guidance.

Third Interview: With the GM, pretty easy. As far as I could tell, he had already made up his mind because he didn't ask me any questions related to myself.

Interview Question – Name a negative quality about yourself.   View Answer

Reason for Declining – Coulnd't handle required times and school.

I applied online and the process took 1 week - interviewed at Best Buy.

Interview Details – Pretty standard process. You apply for a position online, then they call you up for an interview. Usually you go through two interviews. One with the manager, then another one with the GM. The interview questions weren't out of the ordinary. They mostly ask you hypothetical/experience questions such as "talk about a time when a customer acted rude. How did you react?". They don't really ask a whole lot of questions about your product knowledge. They might ask about your experience with technology, but they won't go into great detail.

Interview Question – Talk about a time when you had to juggle multiple tasks. How did you handle it?   Answer Question

Negotiation Details – There is no negotiation over pay. You can certainly negotiate over the department you will work in, as long as there is an opening.

I applied in-person and the process took 2+ weeks - interviewed at Best Buy in May 2014.

Interview Details – After 3 rounds of face-to-face interviews and accepting a job offer for the position, Best Buy corporate recinded the offer WITHOUT any notice. I found out after-the-fact that they had rejected me online the day after I had applied, yet my face-to-face interviews continued and I was offered and accepted the position.

Negotiation Details – POOR

Best Buy corporate HR needs to lessons in communications. I didn't even get an email to inform me that they recinded the job offer that I accepted. I had to keep badgering the local management for a start date only to find out that the job offer that I accepted had been recinded.

I need a contact at Best Buy corporate HR to air my grievance.

I applied online and the process took 3 months - interviewed at Best Buy in September 2013.

Interview Details – there were 4 long months for me to get through the entire process, more than I expected. Was very unsatisfied with the way their hiring process worked.. No one in the store had communication and were not "FIT" for the job in my opinion.

Interview Question – Everything was too easy, too good to be true..   Answer Question

Negotiation Details – I had previous family members that worked at BestBuy before I applied. I talked to them and asked them, do you think it would be good for me to work there? They did not agree in other words they said, management is poor there and they left because of issues with the GM, I was unfortunate to hear that but despite of that i told my self, I have been wanting to work for this company for the longest time now and now i have the chance to show my expertise and prove i can do this. When i got called for the interview (which took about a month and a half for them to contact me) i talked to the GM and he told me that maybe I should apply for a different position. He gave me 3 other positions to apply for, I went home sorta upset because i thought i was getting the job that day.. Went home applied for all 3 positions he told me to apply to. Got a second call about 2 weeks later, another interview was scheduled. Showed up and I was interviewed by a different manager this time. This time he told me someone would contact me for the 3rd time and that would determine if weather or not i was going to get hired or not. About 1 month went by and I lost confidence in getting the job.. it took them about 5 weeks for them to call me again. Got the job was happy but not with the process.

Computers and Tablets Sales Consultant Interview

I applied online and the process took 3 weeks - interviewed at Best Buy in May 2013.

Interview Details – When I applied at Best Buy, I submitted the online application/resume and took the personality quiz. Most of it is common sense, like "What would you do if you saw a coworker stealing something?" I got a call a couple weeks later and had an interview the following week. At my interview, I was the first one to show up and the first one to be interviewed. I recommend getting there 20 minutes early and being prepared to sit around for a bit. I was first interviewed by the PCHO manager, who started off with asking me what hobbies I have, school, stuff like that. She looked over my resume and asked me about my job experience. After that, she asked me the "If a customer..." questions and "What would you do in this situation?" type questions. Just give your honest (and common sense) answer, that's what they're looking for. Immediately after I was interviewed by the store manager briefly, and he told me on the spot he wanted to give me the job. Some people had to go home after the first interview, and some people went home after the second and were later hired as well. Whatever positions you apply for, it's a good idea to look up the basics of your department (ex. computers, do a little bit of research into different computer brands and processors and stuff like that). They provide hours upon hours of training videos which help, but you ultimately learn about product and how to sell on the sales floor.
They do drug test and background check when you are hired, so don't do anything stupid to mess it up.

Interview Question – What's the most difficult situation you've had with a customer at your previous job(s) and how did you handle it?   View Answer

Negotiation Details – The store manager looked at my previous wage and matched it. I was happy.
