Computer Sales Specialist - Computers and Tablets - Microsoft Interview

Computer Sales Specialist - Computers and Tablets - Microsoft
Annapolis, MD

I applied in-person and the process took 2+ weeks - interviewed at Best Buy in May 2014.

Interview Details – After 3 rounds of face-to-face interviews and accepting a job offer for the position, Best Buy corporate recinded the offer WITHOUT any notice. I found out after-the-fact that they had rejected me online the day after I had applied, yet my face-to-face interviews continued and I was offered and accepted the position.

Negotiation Details – POOR

Best Buy corporate HR needs to lessons in communications. I didn't even get an email to inform me that they recinded the job offer that I accepted. I had to keep badgering the local management for a start date only to find out that the job offer that I accepted had been recinded.

I need a contact at Best Buy corporate HR to air my grievance.

I applied online and the process took 3 weeks - interviewed at Best Buy in June 2013.

Interview Details – I submitted my resume in person and online. There is also personality test in the second part of the online application. Don't believe anything they say. They will never call you back. PERIOD. You have to go there physically or call them constantly. I Called them every 2 days even after the first interview. all together I had 3 interviews in the span of 3 weeks, just for a minimum wage sales job. The interviews made me sweaty and the job in general sucked.

Sales Associate Interview

I applied online and the process took 2 weeks - interviewed at Best Buy in June 2014.

Interview Details – Interviewer showed up over an hour late for our interview. He was extremely chatty with the girls in the front but "introduced" himself under his breath and walks off without even telling me to follow him. We stopped three times on the way to the office to joke around with employees. He clearly had no interest or motivation to get to know me. He was aggressive and rude. He told me my answers were basically BS even though I was being fully honest. When he asked me to "sell him a laptop", he pretended to be the most difficult customer imaginable. I asked where he planned to use it and what he planned to do with it and responded "work". One word answers. I could only think to myself, "what customer comes in wanting help to find a laptop and then doesn't want to answer questions or answers them irritably? There was a theft in the store while I was there and he got up in the middle of my sentence and rushed out for over an hour. He was back in the store within 30 minutes, but wouldn't even acknowledge my presence or look at me. By the time he came back he didn't even take me back to his office before bluntly walking up behind me and asking "why should I hire you?" He didn't even bother saying thank you for your time or sorry for being late. While all my interactions with other employees were positive, I can't imagine going through such a terrible interview again. I left feeling deflated and offended. I have no idea how anyone could impress him.

Interview Question – Sell me a laptop- then wouldn't answer my questions with anything but shrugs or one word answers.   View Answer

Computer Sales Associate Interview

I applied online and the process took 3 months - interviewed at Best Buy in September 2013.

Interview Details – there were 4 long months for me to get through the entire process, more than I expected. Was very unsatisfied with the way their hiring process worked.. No one in the store had communication and were not "FIT" for the job in my opinion.

Interview Question – Everything was too easy, too good to be true..   Answer Question

Negotiation Details – I had previous family members that worked at BestBuy before I applied. I talked to them and asked them, do you think it would be good for me to work there? They did not agree in other words they said, management is poor there and they left because of issues with the GM, I was unfortunate to hear that but despite of that i told my self, I have been wanting to work for this company for the longest time now and now i have the chance to show my expertise and prove i can do this. When i got called for the interview (which took about a month and a half for them to contact me) i talked to the GM and he told me that maybe I should apply for a different position. He gave me 3 other positions to apply for, I went home sorta upset because i thought i was getting the job that day.. Went home applied for all 3 positions he told me to apply to. Got a second call about 2 weeks later, another interview was scheduled. Showed up and I was interviewed by a different manager this time. This time he told me someone would contact me for the 3rd time and that would determine if weather or not i was going to get hired or not. About 1 month went by and I lost confidence in getting the job.. it took them about 5 weeks for them to call me again. Got the job was happy but not with the process.

I applied through an employee referral and interviewed at Best Buy.

Interview Details – They just want upbeat people who now about technology. It all depends on which manager you get as to how long your interview will be. They don't really plan out who will be doing said interviews just whoever is available. No one will expect you to come so you will be waiting for a while. I was there for years I think there were about three times that a manager remembered that there was an interview. Don't let that put you off.

Sales Associate Interview

Sales Associate

I applied online and the process took 2 days - interviewed at Best Buy in July 2011.

Interview Details – Lengthy online interview, including personality evaluation. Three round on site interview conducted in one day - each round slightly different. First being a group introduction - and a sales scenario role play. Round of eliminations. Second round being more detailed team related questions - then sales role play, and then elimination. Third round is a one on one or two interview with the department manager and supervisor - questions will often be situation, behavior, outcome based and related to past experiences.

Interview Question – The role playing of the sales scenario. Basically you enact the true to life experience of starting up a conversation as a salesman, in a "natural" way - and lead into a sales pitch.   Answer Question

Negotiation Details – Very limited negotiation opportunity.
