Accepted Offer – Interviewed in Manassas, VA Oct 2007 – Reviewed Apr 12, 2009
Interview Details – A week or so after filling the application out online, I received a call from one of the managers at my local Best Buy. She did a brief interview with me over the phone and then we scheduled an appointment for a face to face interview. The face to face interview was all about my previous jobs and what skills I have. The manager liked the fact that I had previous experience with sales and customer service. When the manager was done with me, a Geek Squad associate gave me a brief talk about what skills I poses. He asked me some technical questions then we set up a last interview. On the last interview, I sat face to face with the stores General Manager in a closed room. It was a little intimidating. She asked me questions about how I would handle certain customer situations. She really liked the fact that I would not call a manager if a customer asks. She liked the fact that I would handle the situation as best as I could before calling a manager. At the end of the interview, we discussed getting a drug test within 3 days then discussed pay. She was very firm on the pay and would not negotiate.

No Offer – Interviewed in City of Industry, CA Dec 2007 – Reviewed Mar 19, 2009
Interview Details – Submitted an offer online, was called and asked to come in for an interview. I was told to fill out a secondary application inside of another room. Interviewer finally showed up nearly a half hour after my scheduled time. She did not shake my hand or greet me, and made no eye contact whatsoever. She looked over my application, and asked questions about my employment history. She was very unfriendly about it. After a few minutes of that, she said they may call me in a week or so and had me leave. Very unnerving experience - interviewer made me feel like I was wasting her time before she had the chance to meet me. Did not ask about my qualifications. Her only questions were my history.

Interview Details –
The interview process was disorganized. I had applied at the store 5 mins from my home but got a call from the mall store 30 minutes away. They asked if I would be okay with the commute and I said I would so they did a phone interview. During the phone interview they seemed to be trying to get me to apply for geek squad even though I had expressed interest in working as a sales associate, but I went with it because I assumed geek squad probably paid more.
Next they asked me to come in the next day for a 1 on 1 interview. The person I was supposed to interview was not there, so after being left to wait quite a long time, while watching staff hurry back and forth trying to help customers, clearly panicked and understaffed, a different manager met with me. The interview went well but it became clear that I was not interviewing for geek squad, or any particular position. They were just going to put my application in a pile and divy them all up however they wanted.
I got a call while driving home, asking me to come in for a final interview with the store manager, the next day. I had plans all day that day so I called back and asked to come in the following day and they said that was not an option and asked again if I could come in tomorrow...I said no and they scheduled me for the next day. Throughout the entire phone conversation the manager was being constantly interrupted by annoyed customers who needed assistance...this had been an ongoing problem with every phone conversation. It bothered me that they couldn't take 5 minutes to step into a back office to speak to me.
After thinking about it over the next 24 hours, and fairly certain that they "final interview" was going to be an offer, I just cancelled the interview and withdrew my application because if their interview process is so disorganized I really don't think I want to work there...

Interview Details – Applied online, got a call back within 24 hrs, did a quick over-the-phone basic interview to verify my information. They seemed really excited to get me into an interview as soon as possible. Did my first face to face interview 2 days later with the Geek Squad DCI and the Customer Service Manager, took about 45 mins. Both of the managers seemed really impressed and told me I would get a call soon to schedule a final interview with the General Manager of the store. 15 mins after the interview I got a call asking me to come in the next day for my GM interview. All in all, good experience, typical job interview questions were asked, everyone was professional. Got the job within 5 days of applying online, so not bad!

Interview Details – I filled out the application online for a local branch, and was called about 2 weeks later by a branch about 30 miles away. When they called, they asked if I was willing to have a phone interview, and I said yes, and had a short phone interview then. At the end of the call (which only lasted about 5 mins), I was set up to interview with the Geek Squad manager a few days later. At this interview, I was asked basic interview questions (Why do you want to work here? Describe a situation where you gave exceptional customer service. Etc) and a few Geek Squad specific questions. A little over a week later I recieved a call to come in and interview one final time with the General Manager. This interview had the same process as the last one, and I was offered the job at the end of it.

Interview Details – I was given three 1:1 interviews. The first interview was to determine if I was geek squad material. I was set up with a second meeting a week later meeting with the best buy mobile manager because of my knowledge of cell phones. Later that day I came back to meet with the General Manager and was offered a job as a best buy mobile employee.

Interview Details – I applied online for the CIA job; the online portion is somewhat long, but easy; just make sure you read the questions carefully. I got a call from the supervisor of the Geek Squad and got a phone interview. Questions were about times available and possible secondary choices for positions (my secondaries were Counter OPs and computer sales person). After that, got another call for when to come in for an interview with the operations manager. After that interview, is a third interview with the general manager of the store. Dress nicely, and be polite.

Interview Details – I applied online, but did not hear back from them. So a few months later I applied again and then went into the store to make sure they received my application.
