I interviewed online. The process took 3 weeks - interviewed at Capital Group.

    Interview Details

I put my online application in almost 3 weeks ago, 2 days ago I got an email response to take a digital interview. I studied for one day then finally interview digitally. I read all the reviews, here on glass door, I was lead astray. There was only one behavior question. The rest was: Can you be rehired in All of your previous jobs, Why do you want to work for CG, What other jobs were you looking for? At least 3 times the same question was tweaked to ask why I liked customer service, or why I was good for customer service, I felt the digital interview was very cold. I didn't realize until question 8 that I can add more personal info. into the answers. After question 8 it was yes/no type questions.

I interviewed online - interviewed at Capital Group in May 2014.

    Interview Details

Started with a phone interview asking brief questions such as why I wanted to work at Capital Group and what kind of salary I was expecting. Relatively short and straight-forward.

Next step was a video chat/Skype interview. This one was more extensive and asked questions about past work experiences as well as gave me a broader overview of the Customer Service job to which I was applying.

Final step was an in-person interview. There were two interviewers; one human resources employee and one customer service team leader. They asked many of the same questions as the video chat interview. After the interview, they gave me a tour of the Capital Group campus.

    Interview Questions
    • They ask a lot of questions involving past situations or experience. For example, "Tell us about a time when you had to handle a tough customer and how you handled it."   Answer Question

I took the time out to do something I never did be4 and i was skeptical. But because i need a new career i was willing 2 give it a try. Which was a video recording interview, i received a call last fri. About an email sent 2 me from this company. Asking me 2 give a video interview. So i did it and receive a call on monday asking me what salary i was looking 4 & was i able to be a rehire at any of my previous jobs. Those same questions were on the video. So on tues. I received a call which was the phone interview & the asked me the same questions from the video just more detail. So she told me she would submit my info 2 the site that i'd be working at and if they wanted 2 take it further they would call 4 face 2 face, if not i'd get an email. So i go the email. But i thought it was wack because of the screening process. Only God knows who saw my video. Mutual funds and investments company- all that phone numbers were not in my state

I interviewed through a recruiter. The process took 2 days - interviewed at Capital Group in July 2014.

    Interview Details

Screening interviews by recruiter took 2 days, and the process was presented as one that could take up to two months for completion. Be dedicated to this type of environment. I know of firms that have a higher rating (i.e., 4.8), are less intrusive and more accommodating, but Capital Group is just above average for the industry at 3.4 at the time of this review. Mostly I understand this to be a good firm, but they take their time making decisions, which is fine for the right person and good for them.

The salary question came up early on because they 1.) offer below market base salaries for the skills and qualifications they seek, 2.) had a recruiter screen based on this, when it is best discussed by requesting a salary history.

They wanted multiple on-site interviews, requiring multiple flights and expense reimbursement rather than expenses paid and booked by their travel department. It did not send the right message at all. They are pretty oblivious to the fact that very few disruptive technologies are developed by technocrats in corporate bureaucracies. So they seem to position this as an innovative environment when capital markets firms are on average extremely adverse to change and market disruptions they do not understand. This includes developing and delivering quality software solutions on a time-to-market basis.

    Interview Questions
    • Background check positioned as highly invasive to personal history (beyond industry norms), making the firm appear to be very authoritarian and overreaching. They likely have some post-9/11 Homeland Security types keen on investigative overreach, and it was a show-stopper.   View Answer

Lengthy and extremely stressful. It felt as if the interviewers were not prepared or had already made up their mind on another candidate and this was just part of the process.

I interviewed online - interviewed at Capital Group in April 2014.

    Interview Details

Started with a phone interview that described the position, training, that no time could be taken off the first 12 weeks etc.

I was called back to a second interview where it took around 3 1/2 hours. It started with a tour of the campus where they show and tell you about how wonderful it is to work there and how lucky you will be to be hired. Then you move on to interview with the department and then hr. HR is very cut and dry. They ask some difficult questions and take notes the entire time. They are intense. Then the whole group moved on to listened to mock phone calls.

It was a group of about 8 of us rotating individually to the interviews.

I was not offered a position, they sent me an email at 9:30 pm on a Friday night letting me know I did not get it, no reason why just that I was not selected. This part honestly rubbed me the wrong way about the company with the timing of the decline email.
