I applied in-person and the process took 5 days - interviewed at Chartwells in August 2010.

Interview Details – At the time, this was a job fair at a college. It was for working at their dining service there. They interview several people. I was called in for 2 interviews. It went really well because I was to start the following day. I originally went to a job fair where I was interviewed one-on-one. Then I was called in to interview with someone else. I got the job and started working the next day.

Interview Question – It's really not a difficult question but most people think it is. They asked me to tell me about myself. At that time I had little job experience with only having 1 job before. With my resume and words I got hired.   View Answer

Negotiation Details – I had to work two shifts with a 2 hour break in between and I accepted it. You have to know what you can work before you take anything. My schedule was Mon-Thur 9am-2pm 4pm-8pm and on Friday 9am-2pm. If you are unable to work a schedule, you should not take the job offer. You will only be setting yourself up for failure.

I applied in-person and the process took 2 days - interviewed at Chartwells.

Interview Details – They had a very informal interviewing process which took place at one of the dining hall tables during a lunch shift in full view of their clients. While the interview wasn't difficult I was slightly put off by the public nature of the interview in a noisy student environment. The general manager was pleasant enough during the interview though seemed constantly distracted by the students in the room as he would as a question then direct his attention elsewhere in the room.

Interview Question – The most unexpected question was "What do you want to be when you grow up?"   View Answer

Negotiation Details – Unfortunately I undercut myself initially under the pretenses that if I proved myself then my salary would be adjusted accordingly. This turned out not to be the case because of a "pay freeze."

Interview Details – Interview was very, very low key. It happened on the spot of requesting an application, and basically because I had prior experience in the industry I was accepted almost immediately. Took about 7 minutes maybe.

I applied through other source and the process took a day - interviewed at Chartwells in January 2012.

Interview Details – Obvious desperation of chef manager to fill position was readily apparent. No reference check, minimal questioning. Should have been a warning flag to run and not look back.

Interview Question – Very little in way of questioning was conducted.   Answer Question

Negotiation Details – I asked for specific salary, and chef accepted terms.
