Customer Support Engineer Interview

Customer Support Engineer
San Jose, CA

I applied through college or university and the process took a day - interviewed at Cisco Systems in October 2011.

Interview Details – It was a college recruiting event, and I got an 1:1 interview with an alumni. The interviewer was nice and professional. She asked several general first interview questions and some technical questions. The technical questions were pretty straight but not tricky. If you got CCNA or CCENT Certification, you will be fine with those technical questions.

Customer Support Engineer Interview

Customer Support Engineer
Richardson, TX

The process took 4 months - interviewed at Cisco Systems in January 2009.

Interview Details – Definitely know the OSI model and the basics of networking. Minimum expectation is to have at least CCNA level experience. Then also be prepared to talk about your experiences in working with customers, kind of like a high tech call center. People/Soft skills are as important as technical skills, though few managers value that.
EXPECT the STAR interview technique, like tell me about a time.
Be prepared to answer any and everything on your resume. I interviewed for a technical position but my CV stated I took an Accounting and Market course in Grad Schol. I was asked to tell the Porter's five forces.

Bottom line, be prepared to defen your resume in it's entirety.

Mexico, Distrito Federal (Mexico)

I applied online and the process took 3 months - interviewed at Cisco Systems in December 2013.

Interview Details – This position was for recent graduates to start their Cisco career in their Services Academy Associate Program. The process included many emails between the recruiter from Cisco and myself and three video- camera interviews, two of the 1:1 and the last one a Group/Panel interview. The interviewers were nice. The only objection I had it's that the recruiter told me that she sent me an email notifying that I was not selected but I never got the email.

Interview Question – Unexpected: I studied Computer Science Systems and one of the interviewers asked me about that the Customer Support Engineer was a position basically for an IT and since I studied Computer Science Systems; Why do I want to change it?   Answer Question

Interview Details – Interviews were well scheduled , but i didn't think they knew what they wanted for the role , after two interviews they said that they no longer wanted to fill the role . In all i have no regrets as i am now intervieing in a much better company. Cisco is a great company but they need to improve their hiring processes and be clear on what they need from the engineers.

Interview Details – applied on-line, scheduled interview teleconference.

One of the first questions were salary expectations, then lady informed me of their maximum range for the position - 5k PLN/month gross.
I said that I am not interested in further talk for such money.

It would be really easier if they show their salary range in front.
