The HR confirmed a phone interview with the VP 3 days in advance. They called me at 9. Basically normal questions on the former experience, edu background. The interviewers are very nice however, I do not think I perform well. They asked many questions about your skills and past experience.

    Senior Programmer Analyst Interview

Anonymous Employee in Belfast, Northern Ireland (UK)
    No Offer
    Neutral Experience

    Application

I applied online. The process took 2 daysinterviewed at Citi (Belfast, Northern Ireland (UK)).

    Interview

Recruitment email and invitation to face-to-face interview. In the interview I was greeted by the hiring manager plus a potential colleague. They showed me around the office as we located a meeting room. The interview was mostly technical, in order to assess how up-to-date I was with Java. I never received feedback, even after sending an email to the company's recruiter - they never responded.

    Interview Questions

    • Mostly standard behavioural personality questions that arise in an interview plus questions about the Java programming language, including its newer features.   Answer Question

    Ops Risk Manager Interview

    Neutral Experience
    Difficult Interview

    Application

I applied through other source. The process took 4 daysinterviewed at Citi (Dallas, TX) in July 2015.

    Interview

It was difficult because the Hiring Manager asked me about my current job and after explaining an unusual hierarchy, he got caught up on semantics and how my current job was set up. Instead of focusing on the skills that I bring to the table, he kept wanting to discuss and understand how my current job's business was organized.

    Analyst Interview

    Anonymous Employee in Buffalo, NY
    No Offer
    Negative Experience
    Easy Interview

    Application

I applied online. The process took 2 weeksinterviewed at Citi (Buffalo, NY) in June 2015.

    Interview

I applied online. Exactly 2 weeks later to the day got an email from HR who set up an in-person interview in the Buffalo, NY office. Prior to the interview I was given a list of two interviewers whom I would I have paged upon arrival. On the day of the interview I got there about 5 minutes early where much to my amusement the security could not locate my interviewers. The contact information in the Citi Buffalo database is scrambled between departments, apparently. After some time a group of 4 people showed up. Who they were I still do not know to this day as they failed to introduce themselves. As if the experience could not get any better at that point, I was cheerfully informed by the group en route to the interview that they did not have a room available for our interview session. After locating an available room the interview was brief to say the least. Between the aforementioned mishaps and the interview's conclusion, about 20 minutes passed. There were no technicalities in the least. In fact, when I asked about the types of derivative instruments the department worked with they hastily changed the subject. Similarly, I had asked them about Citi's latest corporate developments which landed much media attention lately, only to be told that they have never heard of anything of the sort. So, in the end, suffice it to say I never heard back from them. But about month later I was contacted by a VP from another department who told me that the previous interviewers had footballed me to her. So she wanted to bring me in for an interview immediately. Suffice it to say I never made it to that interview. Between her insistence to play hard-to-get, as well as last minute on-the-day cancellations with a pathetic excuse the lack of professionalism in the Buffalo office is simply appalling.

    Sales & Trading Analyst Interview

Anonymous Employee in New York, NY
    No Offer
    Positive Experience
    Average Interview

    Application

I applied through college or university. The process took 3 weeksinterviewed at Citi (New York, NY) in January 2013.

    Interview

Had 2 rounds of interviews. An on-campus interview conducted by an alum, followed by a superday interview at the headquarter in NYC. The on-campus interview was easy as long as you know the company, and how the market goes (like foreign exchange rate, S&P 500, etc). The Superday interview lasted almost 4 hours. I had 5 people interviewing me, 2 associates, 2 VPs, and 1 director.

    Retail Program Manager Interview

    Application

I applied online. The process took 2+ monthsinterviewed at Citi (Elk Grove Village, IL) in June 2015.

    Interview

Two weeks after I applied online for a position I was emailed by HR to set up a phone screen. After talking with the (very nice) HR rep, I was told the salary which was less than I was making. I appreciated being told this info up front as to not waste anyone's time. I was really interested in the company so I decided to set up a phone interview with the hiring manager in case there was flexibility with the salary. The hiring manager never called at our confirmed time so I decided not to pursue that role any longer. The next week another HR person contacted me about a similar role with a higher salary and we set up a time to talk for about 20 min (walking through resume). She then asked if I was available to come in over 2 weeks later for an in-person interview. The week of the interview I still hadn't gotten any info on when and where the interview would take place. I followed up a few times and was finally sent an interview itinerary 2 days before I was to come in. Luckily I was already off this day so I didn't need to worry about time, but I found the process to be very scattered. The itinerary had me there for 2 hours, with two sets of panel interviews with 3 people in each session. The panel interviews were average. Only 2 people showed up in both instead of 3. The first set had the actual hiring manager and he was very engaged. I was asked to walk through my resume and some scenario questions - overall went well. The second part was very awkward. Neither interviewer seemed to have any specific questions or very much practice in interviewing. I ended up leading most of the time. I sent an email to thank the HR rep who set everything up and asked what the next steps were. She then told me they were interviewing internal candidates the following week, so I should hear something in about 2 weeks. Two weeks went by so I sent a follow up email with no response. I decided to send another final email a week later as one last attempt and was then told I wasn't going to be getting an offer. Overall most people were very nice but for such a large company, I expected a more regimented process.

    Application

I applied online. The process took 7+ weeksinterviewed at Citi (Tampa, FL) in March 2015.

HR is very slow and hard to get ahold of. Hiring process very lengthy and not streamlined at all. Definitely could use improvement in this area. Also no preference is given to internal development.

    Seniorr Project Analyst Interview

Anonymous Employee in Dublin, Dublin (Ireland)
    No Offer
    Negative Experience
    Easy Interview

    Application

I applied online – interviewed at Citi (Dublin, Dublin (Ireland)) in May 2015.

    Interview

Well, what to say? One of the worst recruitment procedures that I've ever seen in my life. I was contacted by a different Citi recruiting representatives. A half an hour phone interview was scheduled, however, they seem to be having a difficulty to understand a different time zones so be extra careful when arranging an interview . A phone interview was conducted and no feedback was received. In the meantime their representative has contacted me twice again to apply for the same role. After explaining to their representative that I've already had a phone interview, I eventually received a very subjective feedback from their hiring manager that I wasn't successful. Citi should be aware that a bad recruitment experience is at least as damaging as a bad consumer experience. This bank is simply not equipped to deal with this and unfortunately this means they really need to improve their processes so that they may engage, hire and retain candidates such as myself.

    Interview Questions

    • Hiring manager asked some very simple questions to share details on one or two projects that I was involved in and how I approached my tasks . Some technical questions and details of the technical environments that I've worked in.Nothing too difficult.   Answer Question
