Very comfortable, great atmosphere. Initially recruited on-campus. Had a first round one on one interview, very easy and friendly, mainly fit questions and talked about my interest. Second round was a superday at the new york office, consisting of 5 20 min interviews

I applied through college or university – interviewed at Citi.

    Interview Details

The first round interview was a one-on-one technical interview. Calculus and programming questions were asked.

The second round interview was a big day with directors in the fixed income group. They interviewed with me while still doing jobs on their computers. Most problems are math, programming or brain teaser problems. There was also a math test with calculus, linear algbra and logic questions. The math test was very hard.

Talked to them at a career fair and interviewed the next day. They were very friendly and the interview was rather relaxed. I was surprised they wanted me to interview as I was not well trained in the field they were hiring in, Information Security, but they were insistent that I come anyways.

Sales, Trading & Quantitative Analysis Interview

I applied online. The process took 2 weeksinterviewed at Citi in October 2014.

    Interview Details

I applied through the firm's website and I got an email to set up a phone interview. I was expecting to get a call from an analyst as that's usually the case for most of the bulge brackets, but I actually got a call from the VP of quantitative analysis group. It was an interesting interview as the structure was totally different in that he introduced himself and his group first and then I walked through my resume. After few fit questions, I was asked questions on programming, regression, brain teasers and stats questions. I found it very difficult.

    Interview Questions
    • There is a fair dice. After the first roll, you can decide whether to take the number or roll it again. However, you have to take the value from the second roll. If I charge you $4 to play this game and pay you whatever the dice shows, will you play this game?   Answer Question

    Accounts Payable Interview

The process took 2 daysinterviewed at Citi in October 2014.

    Interview Details

I received an email from a recruiter asking me to give her a few times that I could take a phone call and interview for the role. After letting her know the times that worked for me. She sent a very unprofessional email and told me to call a # listed in the email at the confirmed time. I made sure that my schedule was clear and called the number at exactly 2pm as directed. No Answer. I called again about 5 mins later and still no answer so I left a message. 15 mins after that I called again. No answer. The next day I received an email that stated they were pursuing other candidates. I emailed the original recruiter and explained what happened her response was " Since you failed to make your interview appointment we decided not to pursue you"

I was flabbergasted to say the least. I politely emailed her again and told her that their interview process is a joke and I did not miss the interview - The person that was supposed to interview me missed the interview.

It was actually quite comical because most companies have the HR person call you.

I have since found employment and it is more than likely a much better role that the CITI position anyway.

I applied through college or university. The process took 5 weeksinterviewed at Citi in October 2014.

    Interview Details

It was a very arbitrary process, they came to campus to present and then after the presentation had 'office hours' with the 4 MD's who came along, thats when a few people got invitations to their super day and a few got called to a 'First Round' at their office in New York. I was in the latter group. The first round was with two different people, one was behavioral and one was technical.

    Interview Questions
    • I did not expect the technical questions as they had mentioned that it would be a behavioral interview, in the Financial Institutional Group (one I interviewed for) they gave a lot of importance to technicals, asked me questions about accounting laws and related Financial statements   Answer Question

I applied through an employee referral. The process took 3 weeksinterviewed at Citi in October 2014.

    Interview Details

Applied through company website + referrals. Contacted me for a phone interview. Combination of technical as well as company fit questions. Interviewer didn't seem all too interested in my answers. A couple of the more personal questions caught me off guard.

    Interview Questions
    • Why private banking? What is your biggest regret? Tell me about a time you were in a group and faced a problem and how you came to a solution. How would you tell bad news to someone? Which countries would you invest in? If I were a client with $10 mill - where would you invest? What matters to you?   Answer Question
