Enterprise Architect at Concur Technologies

No Offer – Interviewed in Bellevue, WA May 2013 – Reviewed May 14, 2013 New

Interview Details – Next day response to resume submittal and went from that to talking to a full interview loop (4 people) within two weeks. Everyone was honest and friendly in the process.

3 more business to hear results from the interview.

I would recommend interviewing with them to other people. They seemed like a group of people pretty committed and enthusiastic about their jobs.

Product Marketing Manager at Concur Technologies

No Offer – Interviewed in Redmond, WA Jan 2013 – Reviewed Apr 28, 2013

Interview Details – The recruiter reached out to me after I applied online ( Very surprising as that seldom happens) The recruiter initially scheduled me for the first round. Had a great interview and the recruiter immediately got back to me regarding the next round. After the second round, my future manager informed that I had cleared his interview and will put me through other people before I flew back for the final round.
However, since the interview happens on a rolling basis, they stop communicating with you once they find a good fit. This might be unnerving sometimes, however there are a lot of cues that you can pick up to know the status of your candidacy. Since I applied through LinkedIn, the job posting is taken down immediately when they offer someone.
As a good candidate ( as mentioned by the interviewers), you are expected to atleast be given a fair chance or communicated with regularly.

Software Configuration Engineer II at Concur Technologies

No Offer – Interviewed in Mar 2013 – Reviewed Apr 25, 2013

Interview Details – Interviewed for an SF company that they acquired. Talked to a couple of people over the phone in Redmond. Totally cool people. Then I went to the office in SF. I spoke to three different people who had three different ideas of what the job entailed. I realized that, given the miscommunications going on, it was probably not going to work for me. The manager did apologize for the confusion. I did not get the job and was not surprised by that given that I told him that one of the guys I talked to had no business interviewing candidates. I will give five stars to their recruiter for at least telling me that I was not a good fit. I've been to other companies for live interviews and not been told a single word. At least I could move on.

Also, I do not recall any irritating puzzle questions (which even Google doesn't do anymore) or requests to do an upside-down with sprinkles on top Towers of Hanoi (like Facebook does). So, they do ask you about your actual work.

Interview Question – After I explained that I was not a DBA and had only light experience with databases, I was asked a lot of questions that were more suitable to a DBA.   Answer Question

Marketing Manager, Senior at Concur Technologies

No Offer – Interviewed in San Francisco, CA Feb 2013 – Reviewed Mar 4, 2013

Interview Details – First, I had a phone interview with an insider recruiter. Within a few days an HR person was scheduling a phone interview with the hiring manager. Next, my face to face interviews at the local office through the same corporate HR person. Unfortunately, the hiring manager was out sick so I had to return later in the week. Everyone was extremely nice and very casual. The SF office is the former TripIt startup office, so they still dress very casual. Even wearing dressed down, business casual I felt over-dressed. The biggest turn off was their encouragement that was obviously not real. I was told I would be flown up to Seattle or meeting others locally and I got crickets. The recruiter didn't reply for days, then did with a vague answer. I called the hiring manager directly and she got completely flustered, made an excuse to get off the phone and never called me back. Two weeks later I got a form rejection email from the HR scheduler. I'd say the process was handled badly and showed a lack of professionalism. I expected more interviewing for a Director position. I learned they hired someone who could work at corporate HQ in Seattle. They must have had a preference this way and didn't mention it. Again, not very professional. Considering most companies are on their very best behavior during interviews, I am happy to not get an offer. It would have been a difficult decision.

Senior Revenue Accountant at Concur Technologies

No Offer – Interviewed in Redmond, WA Oct 2012 – Reviewed Oct 7, 2012

Interview Details – Coming from a contract position at Microsoft, felt the Accounting Director had a chip on her shoulder about former MS employees that won't say anything bad about Microsoft. Was deemed to be unfit for Sr. role despite being asked only 1 accounting question. Other interviewers only asked me about my past skills using Excel and personality questions.

Software Development Manager at Concur Technologies

No Offer – Interviewed in Redmond, WA Dec 2011 – Reviewed Jan 5, 2012

Interview Details – Concur had a contractor conduct phone interview screens. It was very odd. I'm a minority, and the interviewer was actually disappointed when I had experience and education in a particular area. When he asked me if I had management experience, I noted my prior management jobs and he said, "oh, I didn't know you had management experience..." It was on my resume, with title, company, and length of job noted. When I described my experience and my degrees and certifications, he actually sounded disappointed as if he were going down a check list and now, possibly, he'd have to check the box. He didn't seem to have read my resume at all.

I got the impression he called me just to say he interviewed a woman. He asked no technical questions nor "how would you handle" questions.

Sales Executive at Concur Technologies

No Offer – Interviewed in Eden Prairie, MN Dec 2011 – Reviewed Dec 20, 2011

Interview Details – I have interviewed with Concur twice now, and both times the company has proven to be very unprofessional. I actually did receive an offer after my first interview, but it was for a role that my recruiter and I decided that I was over qualified for, so i pursued a couple of roles that had more responsibilities. After being offered a job just below these, I could not even get a phone interview to discuss the others and no one would return my emails or phone calls. Eventually, I just forgot about Concur. Fast forward to December 2011. The perfect position that was a hybrid of the others I was going for at different companies, was posted on the Concur website. I fit all the qualifications and nailed the phone interview. My interview was supposed to be 2 hrs and 15 mins long, so I prepared for 3 whole days for it. When I arrived, the schedule had changed and I met with Regions Sales Director first. This lady starts off the interview admitting to me how unprepared she is and that she has been gone for 2 weeks. Great! I'm glad I prepared 3 days for this crap. She was clearly super crabby and wanted to be at home. Throughout the interview she was sending/receiving instant messages and was pulling questions out of thin air. It was a joke. After our scheduled 45 minutes was up, she said she got an instant message from the other two gentleman I was supposed to meet with, and both were tied up on an important phone call. Obviously, I was pretty upset that I spent 3 days preparing for an interview that lasted 45 minutes and of those 45 minutes, every single second was wasted. The lady who interviewed me said I would hear back right away from HR to schedule phone interviews with the two gentlemen that would suffice. 3 days later I received an email from the lady I interviewed with stating (exactly) this:

"I was working with the HR team to get your next interviews scheduled and after looking back at my notes I regret to inform you that we will not be moving forward with your application. While you have some great experience and I wish you the best in your career I have decided to go with another applicant.

Thank you for your time and I wish you the best in your pursuit."

Her notes! I wonder what they said? Where am I? Home!! who is sitting in front of me? Sleep!! vacation...probably something like that.

I was robbed and cheated by Concur. They stole 3 hrs and 45 BRUTAL minutes of my life. I would recommend looking elsewhere for employment.

Sales at Concur Technologies

No Offer – Interviewed in Redmond, WA Oct 2010 – Reviewed Oct 9, 2011

Interview Details – The interview process for the Concur Breeze Sales rep started with a phone interview with the recruiter. After the phone interview I filled out a 100 question personality test. A week after the first interview I had a phone interview with the manager of the sales team I applied for, at the end of the interview I was scheduled for a 1/2 day interview the following week.
1/2 Day interview:
- 1:1 interview with the manager
- I gave a 15 min demo of the product, they ask you to spend time on the free trail in order to prepare for the interview.
- Panel interview with the team
- Closing interview with the recruiter

After the 1/2 day interview I was scheduled a phone interview with the VP of sales.

Senior Software Engineer at Concur Technologies

No Offer – Interviewed in Redmond, WA May 2011 – Reviewed Aug 8, 2011

Interview Details – The Phone screen was easy and it went through well. The half-day 1:1 interviews went well too. The technical questions asked were not difficult at all - mostly around writing a simple query or writing a simple class. The behavioral questions are probably given more importance than the technical ones - one possible reason the interview didn't result in an offer.
