    Application

I applied through a recruiter. The process took 3+ monthsinterviewed at Consolidated Graphics.

    Interview

Initially was recruited at a career fair. The company was categorized as a media company. Submitted name, email address, and GPA online. Received a call to schedule a Skype interview. Second round, in-person interview included tour of the company, chat with president, chat with LDP manager. Lasted over 4 hours.

    Interview

Coming right out of college, this is a great opportunity. Since being an LDP Associate I've been able to travel and meet many people within the print industry. The interview process varies on which company you interview. My experience was a long process but not as intimidating as expected.

    Interview

Apply online and then receive a phone or on campus interview. Once the phone interview is passed you are invited onside to one of the plant locations where you go through a three part interview with current associates in the program and the company president. Since the program recruits from college grads of all majors, most questions are aimed at uncovering your leadership potential.

    Application

I applied through college or university. The process took 5 weeksinterviewed at Consolidated Graphics (Streamwood, IL).

    Interview

I first met them at a career fair at my school. Very friendly and encouraging. Then I had a one on one interview. Immediately they told me that I would be receiving an email to schedule an onsite interview. I met with several different people at the onsite interview. Going into it I was concerned because of the reviews online. Also, my degree in school was everything I would be taught while there. Meaning I didn't know if I wanted to "relearn" everything when I just went to school for that. They told me I would fly through it and I was offered a position early on during the day of the onsite interview. 6 or so mini interviews later (with different people) I was finished. Yes they answered all of my questions, but they did stress that this position is for someone willing to relocate. They also told me that the pay is not great, after receiving the offer details, it wasn't that great, but not awful. The people there are friendly, however, I am not so sure that the program is 100% suitable for a lot of people. Many people do quit, it's a different type of job. Great company, great people, but iffy program.

    Reasons for Declining

At this point in my life, relocation isn't an option.

    Application

I applied through college or university. The process took a weekinterviewed at Consolidated Graphics in February 2013.

    Interview

I met current 'associates' at my schools career fair and was invited to interview. There were several interviews with salesmen and current employees in the leadership development program. The sales staff seemed unintelligent and full of BS and the associates there seemed very unenthusiastic. The questions were easy and most employees just asked me to ask them questions. How unprofessional.

    Reasons for Declining

Facility seemed to be trash, and the employees seemed to dislike their job.

    Application

I applied online. The process took 3 weeksinterviewed at Consolidated Graphics (Dallas, TX) in January 2012.

    Interview

The two recruiters I spoke with were very nice and helpful in the interview process. They were both still within the LDP phase themselves, but were very knowledgeable about the company, which conveyed to me the effectiveness of the LDP. The organizational culture seems relaxed and centered around teamwork, and made me feel valuable with the time and training they were willing to invest in me. Relevant work experience should be your most important consideration when it comes to working for consolidated graphics. Experience and hard work is definitely what i plan to get out of this job in order to be competitive in the future.

    Interview Questions

    • Tell me about a time when you were in a management position and what you did to handle the situation?   1 Answer
    • What do you know about the LDP (Leadership Development Program)?   1 Answer

    Negotiation

From what I've heard they don't negotiate on salary. The recruiter told me that they are basically paying for you to learn all about the commercial printing business from the ground up the first 3 years. I believe that once they feel like you've learned everything that is required in order to start making contributions to their company, thats when you should expect to realize some kind of raise and/or promotion.

    Interview

I first had a phone interview with the LDP team based in Houston, TX. They asked about my education, work history, strengths, weaknesses and some behavioral-type questions. It went really well. They are really friendly! I was called back for an in-person interview. I interviewed with several management employees. The interview process was long but it went very smoothly! They asked a lot about my previous work experience, extracurricular activities and what my coursework was like.

    Interview

Very easy overall process. If they like you and you are a reasonable person they will offer you a job. If you have other options I would recommend pursuing those before considering accepting this position.

    Interview Questions

    Negotiation

There was none. You receive a cookie cutter offer and they will not negotiate.

    Interview

Turnover his constant at this company, and they have hiring quotas, but they won't hire someone who seems unintelligent. They look for sharp people who LIKE overtime - lots of it.

    Interview Questions

    Negotiation

Negotiation was not an option, all associates are paid the same, despite cost of living differences.
