Equipment Operator Interview

Equipment Operator
Ontario, NY

I applied online and the process took 4+ weeks - interviewed at Constellation Energy Group in December 2012.

Interview Details – The company flew me out and put me in a hotel but my flight was cancelled due to weather. I showed up the next day when my new flight got in and was greeted with disgust by the interviewers for being late even though it was not my fault. The interviewers were very rude and I would never work for this company. The HR representative was very sickly and appeared to have a facial disease. The lead operations interviewer was very overweight and clearly unhealthy and was a very disgruntled employee.

Interview Question – The questions were very basic. I explained my experience and why I wanted the job.   Answer Question

Reason for Declining – The interviewers insulted me for being overeducated for the position and were incredibly rude because my flights were delayed because of weather.

I applied online and the process took 1 week - interviewed at Constellation Energy Group in August 2009.

Interview Details – I applied for the position online. I was contacted by the manager of the group I would ultimately be working for. Phone screening was done and then ultimately an interview by a group of people. Standard interview questions, usually done by multiple team members.

It is now more common for either HR or a recruiting company to make contact and do initial screening.

Interview Question – Name one situation where you were compelled to do the right thing when it wasn't really the easy thing to do.   Answer Question

Negotiation Details – Negotiation was fairly painless. I countered the initial offer, they countered and I accepted.

Instrument & Control Technician Interview

Instrument & Control Technician
Lusby, MD

I applied through a recruiter and the process took a day - interviewed at Constellation Energy Group in November 2011.

Interview Details – Got a call from a recruiter. The interview was set up for a week later. I had to take the EEI Tech test (easy), They grade it immediately and if you pass you get an interview. Then I had an interview with 2 people (technical questions asked during interview were easy), they were very friendly but the male interviewer stares at you. After the test and interview had a sit down with an HR rep. I got an offer within a week. I still have to do drug test, psych eval, and background screening.

Engineering Interview

Engineering
Syracuse, NY

The process took 3 weeks - interviewed at Constellation Energy Group in October 2009.

Interview Details – This was a very swift interview process.

1. I was first contacted 3 days after posting my resume. The phone interview took about 5 minutes. HR asked, (1) Are you willing to relocate? (2) What is your expected salary? (3) What do you expect from the company

2. I was invited for an on-site interview a week after

3. During the on-site interview, I met all the engineers and supervisors. Then did the official "behavioral" interview. Then had lunch. The interview overall was very layed back, although it lasted about 6-7 hours.

4. I was contacted 4 days after. This took about 5 minutes as well. The HR just talked about how much the salary is, and what the benefits were.

Interview Question – They asked a series of standard behavioral questions I don't remember... things like leadership, teamwork, technical experiences.   Answer Question

Negotiation Details – I didn't negotiate because the compensation seemed very competitive.
