Buyer Interview

Lebanon, TN

I applied online and the process took 4+ weeks - interviewed at Cracker Barrel in July 2011.

Interview Details – Really long, canned questions. Interviewers not overly friendly. Basically there were way too many interviews involved and those interviewing really had their noses in the air.

Interview Question – They were totally canned and did not seem to particularly apply to the position.   Answer Question

Cashier/Retail Interview

Cashier/Retail
Knoxville, TN

I applied in-person and the process took a day - interviewed at Cracker Barrel in May 2014.

Interview Details – I went to my local Cracker Barrel and applied in person and was interviewed that same day by the Male Manager. After the interview he told me I was qualified for the position and told me twice he would call me for a second interview with the other manager (who was just hired) when he got her schedule in order. Two weeks later and have heard nothing from them, guess honesty isn't their first priority. I have another job now, but if you say you're going to call someone then you should it's common curiosity, and Cracker Barrel at least the one in my town is seriously lacking it.

Interview Question – None, all questions were easy.   View Answer

Retail Associate Interview

Retail Associate

I applied in-person and the process took 2 weeks - interviewed at Cracker Barrel.

Interview Details – I called the store just to ask about hiring opps for 16 year olds & was asked to come in! I came in, was interviewed with manager for servers & then was referred to retail manager. I was interviewed by her a few days later, then called back for interview with the store manager. The interview with the store manager was really nice, she & I just talked about the role I would have, she got to know me, & got a feel of my personality. The interview with the store manager was a bit more intense and straightforward!

Interview Question – Suprisingly, I wasn't prepared to answer-- "How do you expect to handle this and your heavy school work?"   Answer Question

Server Interview

I applied online and the process took 2 days - interviewed at Cracker Barrel in January 2014.

Interview Details – One of the 5 managers (supervisors) interviewed me. He asked me various questions. Some of them were weird, like how much money I needed to make a week to pay my bills. Some of them normal, like how many hours I would like to work & what days I would be available to work. Apparently they only hire part-time though at this location. Something came across to me as odd during the interview about how the interviewer was talking & asking questions but couldn't place my finger on it. He was kinda skiddish & liked to talk, like he was reiterating the same points in different ways about the company. Almost like he was trying to make the company sound more desirable to work for then it was.

Interview Question – Most unexpected question was if I wanted to come back for a second interview. Apparently there are levels in the interview process. Supervisor level & General Manager level.   View Answer
