    Associate Marketing Manager Interview

    Application

I applied through a recruiter. The process took 4+ monthsinterviewed at Cracker Barrel (Lebanon, TN).

    Interview

Conversation with recruiter. Conversation with potential manager. Panel interviews. Overall a good experience. All interviews were amiable and flowed easily. The downside was time wise the entire process was way too long. There seemed to be a lot of trouble coordinating schedules on their end. It was a 4-month interview process. They ended up promoting from within, which is understandable considering it is cheaper to have someone transition into a new role than hire an entirely new employee. All feedback I received was positive, they encouraged me to keep up with their job postings to see what else becomes available. I liked the company and everyone I met so would consider applying again if a position came up that interests me.

    Interview Questions

    • With the recruiter is was mostly an informational session to see about my background and give a broad introduction to the position. The second interview, with the potential manager went more in-depth about the position and asked a lot of questions about how I saw my background and strengths fitting with the role. The round of panel interviews focused a lot on preferred management style, communication, etc.   Answer Question

    Application

I applied in-person. The process took a weekinterviewed at Cracker Barrel (Douglas, GA) in June 2015.

    Interview

Horrible. I applied in the restaurant and was offered an interview on the spot. I went in and was then asked for a second manager's interview. I thought things were going well until when I got to the restaurant for the second interview they said they were "too busy for me" and asked me to come in the next day. I came in and the exact same thing happened AND a manager rudely told me I was not the right fit for the job because I am 17. Would not at all recommend.

    Human Resources Role Interview

    Average Interview

    Application

I applied through a recruiter. The process took 6+ weeksinterviewed at Cracker Barrel (Lebanon, TN).

    Interview

One of the worst interview experiences I've ever had. Would have been a relocation so I flew to Tennessee and spent an entire day interviewing as well as completing pre-employment testing. This was followed up by two additional interviews flying on different days as well as a psychological interview. I waited over a week only to have an external recruiter tell me "they are no longer considering you for the role and I don't have any other information." They spent a significant amount of time during the process discussing their culture and how much they care and respect people as well as putting people first. Asking someone to put so much time and energy into the recruitment process and then not giving them the courtesy of some feedback as to why they weren't selected is not, in my opinion, a good demonstration of putting people first.

    Interview

I filled out an application online (Snagajob.com). but when i go to the store, they asked me to fill out another one. They had me sit at a table to wait for the manager, which took about 20 minutes until one of them finally came to speak to me. He asked me what i want to apply for, how i'd be good at it, and about myself.

    Application

I applied online. The process took 2+ monthsinterviewed at Cracker Barrel in April 2015.

    Interview

I applied for the role a week or so after I applied, I received a call for a phone interview with the recruiter. This was more of a conversation in terms of trying to get an idea of my background and why I would be interested in the role. After the interview, I had to take this 45M - 1H questionnaire which was really just to get more perspective into my work style, management preferences, and personality. About a month later, I was asked if I could do an interview with the potential manager for the role. I don't live in TN, so they decided to have me do a phone interview with the manager. It was weird because after the recruiter asked me to interview with the manager, I didn't hear from him until after 2 weeks and that was because they were trying to find time for the manager to actual do the interviews. When he finally did call, he requested the interview to be for the next day. The interview was pretty conversational and I thought the manager was really nice. It seems as if they like to keep the line of communication only restricted to the phone. So it was hard for me to do follow up emails or at least send thank-you notes because of lack of contact information availability. Upon following up about a week and then two weeks later, I was told by the recruiter that he was still waiting to get feedback from the manager. I never heard from Cracker Barrel again until I received a rejection email (the very first email that I've received from them in this whole process outside of the questionnaire request) stating that the position had been filled.

    Server/Hostess Interview

    Easy Interview

    Application

I applied in-person. The process took 1 dayinterviewed at Cracker Barrel (San Marcos, TX) in October 2014.

    Interview

Walked in to eat dinner with some friends and decided to just apply because I hadn't had any luck with other restaurants. After I filled out the form, I had to wait for a bit but it was understandable seeing as how they were pretty busy. When there was a free manager, we sat down and he interviewed me right there! Wasn't expecting it but was actually happy I could get it out of the way. He was really nice and laid back and said to just honestly answer the questions the way I normally would. The questions were mainly about where I used to work and they had me describe a couple scenarios that had occurred to me before and how I handled them. There were still other applicants to interview so now all I'm waiting on is a call within the next week or so. I really do want to work there! Everybody seems so nice and the hostess was really conversational about her job and what it was like there. The manager was really a cool dude too.
