    Human Resources Generalist Interview

I applied online. The process took 5+ weeksinterviewed at DISH in August 2014.

    Interview Details

Interview Process was needlessly protracted and too many steps. First call from Corporate Recruiter was great. Followed by a discomforting recorded interview, and three or four tests for IQ and judgement. When we got to a final phone call, that was when they turned belligerent and accusatory. You know, if you're not interested, just say so. No cross examination needed.

    Human Resources Manager Interview

I applied online. The process took 4 weeksinterviewed at DISH in August 2014.

    Interview Details

I applied through indeed a week later I received a call from a recruiter. My interview with the recruiter went well, I was told to take three assessments & that I would move on to the second round of the process. Maybe a day later, I had a Skype interview with the hiring manager. Then I was called the next day, which was on a Thursday, to schedule an onsite interview with the Recruiter & HR Associate for the next day. Again, this interview went well & I took two more assessments. The next week I was scheduled for another Skype interview with the Director of HR for the following week. My interview with her went well, I thought, but guess I was wrong. I asked her next steps because I thought we were at the end of the interview process & I was told there would be additional onsite interviews with her & the hiring manager again. A week later I was called by a different recruiter from Dish about another position I applied for. I did a HireVue interview were you read the question & record yourself answering the question. Based on your answers you would move on to the telephone interview with the recruiter. I had an interview with the recruiter the next day. I felt the interview went really well with him. In the beginning of the interview he told me that if he felt I wasn't a good fit he would let me know during the interview, that way he wouldn't waste my time. I informed him of the other position I had been interviewing with & he said he would reach out to the other recruiter to see were I was in the process. He told me he would be in touch by the next week & if I don't hear from him to email him a big question mark. That same day I was email & thanked for my time for the HR Manager position; however, I still had hope since I was interviewing for the Sr HR Rep position. A couple days later I was informed that I wouldn't be moving on for that position as well.

    Human Resources Position Interview

I applied online. The process took 4+ weeksinterviewed at DISH in August 2014.

    Interview Details

Multiple in person and phone interviews. Multiple screening and IQ type tests. Interrogation tactics, good cop bad cop style.
Very confrontation in their style, like they are trying to trip you up. Plus phony corporate personas all around.

Bait and switch on office location: advertised the job with a close location, then informed afterwards that the office was a HUGE commute away.

The overall experience was very unprofessional, overly complicated, and involves too many steps.

    Interview Questions
    • Not so much the difficulty of a question, but they dig deep into your social media presence, and then grill you about what they see. Highly inappropriate and uncalled for.   Answer Question

    Human Resources Interview

I applied online. The process took a weekinterviewed at DISH in July 2014.

    Interview Details

I applied online through Indeed.com. I received a phone call from the recruiter to schedule an hour long phone interview with her. Basic phone interview with some behavioral type questions. Felt the professionalism of the recruiter lacked when talking bad about the person previously in the position. After the conversation ended she said she would send me the assessment that would take an hour and that they send this to every person interviewing at Dish. The assessment consisted of math, reading comprehension, and social media. As an HR professional who worked for various well known top companies, I think this interview assessment is not the best way to sort through talent and very outdated. The questions were similar to the SAT’s you took in HS. After going through this process, I received a note that the manager has passed on my resume and I wouldn’t be moving forward in the process.

Very long and slow process. You have to interview with a very long list of people and there is usually a long gap in between interviews.

The interview process can certainly be lengthy - I interviewed with 5 people face-to-face after an initial phone interview - but they were able to cram them all in the same day so that I didn't have to come back.

    Negotiation Details
They were up-front from the beginning about their process and expectations. I was told from the start that they do not entertain counter offers, and I didn't pose one.

I applied online. The process took 2 weeksinterviewed at DISH in July 2013.

    Interview Details

I applied online and within a few days I was asked to take an assessment which was pretty easy. I then got a phone call to set up an on-site interview. When I went in it was EXTREMELY casual, people in hoodies and jeans. Anyways, I waited for a long time to get to my interview before they put me in a room to take another assessment test which took 45 minutes. I was interviewed and asked the same ol questions. A few days after the interview I was e-mailed that they were moving on with other candidates.

It seemed like a normal interview; but they seem to want to improve their names by having a good interview process with many candidates. Felt like the only benefit was that it improved my interviewing skills. Somewhat felt like a waste of time though.

    Interview Questions
    • They ask about different terms in human resources in a quiz type style. They also have many computer assessments which are time consuming. The questions were mostly normal interview questions.   Answer Question
