Adjunct Faculty Interview (Negative Experience; Average Interview)
I applied online and the process took 3 weeks - interviewed at DeVry University.
Interview Details – Had 3 phone interviews and they required a philosophy of teaching and a vision and values statement. They pay $1500 a course and only pay when the course is over. They wasted my time because the first two interviews said nothing about me having never taught online being problematic. The final interview was courteous, but once she learned that i never taught on line she finished the interview quickly. I hate companies that waste my valuable time.
Operations Support Coordinator Interview (Positive Experience; Easy Interview)
I applied online and the process took 4+ weeks - interviewed at DeVry University in May 2014.
Interview Details – I applied online. I got a call back from HR in IL a few days later. She wanted to set up a phone interview. I think I had to wait about a week until the phone interview. It was supposed to take about an hour and a half, but I think it took 20 min. Really easy questions: Do you like people, describe a situation where you had to choose who to help first, student or boss, stuff like that. I was just friendly and she immediately wanted to set me up for an in person interview. I found out later she interviews a bunch of people and then picks the top three to send in. She sent me an online assessment to do. It was dull. I had to wait over two weeks until someone was ready to interview me in person. She showed me around the area and everyone was really friendly. Some questions had to do with the situation they find themselves in right now; lay-offs, change of culture, etc. So she asked how I react to new co-workers/co-workers leaving, how I respond to students questions that seem stupid, etc. It's been a week now and I haven't hears back. I know I did well on the interview, but it's killing to not hear anything.
tl;dr simple questions, nice atmosphere. Be nice and help students above all else.
Interview Question – What do you do when you've finished your work but still have to be on the clock? View Answer

Academic Advisor Interview (Neutral Experience; Average Interview)
I applied online and the process took 4 weeks - interviewed at DeVry University.
Interview Details – Initial phone interview with general background questions.
Online assessment with behavioral questions.
Two in person interviews at the location that focused on situational questions
After I completed this process they decided there was no longer a need to fill the position. Everyone was very friendly throughout the process and I had a positive impression of those I encountered.
Executive Admissions Advisor Interview (Neutral Experience; Average Interview)
I applied online and the process took 2 weeks - interviewed at DeVry University.
Interview Details – In my opinion, they have a very professional pre-screening process. There was terrific follow-up from the staff at headquarters. The on-site interviewer, himself, who has apparently enjoyed great success at the institution, appeared uninterested in me as a candidate for the job, basically minimizing my credentials and past performance at a similar institution. I was very disappointed with the way the interview went, but still hoped that things would work out somehow, as the staff at headquarters treated me very well.
Interview Question – The apparently indifferent attitude of the interviewer towards my answers. Answer Question
Operations Support Coordinator Interview (Negative Experience; Average Interview)
I applied online and the process took 2 weeks - interviewed at DeVry University in September 2013.
Interview Details – I was not particularly impressed by the interviewer who at the start of the interview indicated she was behind schedule (phone interview) so she wanted to push this call straight through. As a prospective candidate, they are either interested in you or not, and this led me to believe she was just following a course that she was required to take. Doesn't speak well of their hiring practices.
Interview Question – One of the first questions of me was why I wanted to (continue) working? View Answer
Admissions Advisor I Interview (Neutral Experience; Average Interview)
I applied online and the process took 3 weeks - interviewed at DeVry University in May 2013.
Interview Details – This position was for the Online Programs Admissions Advisor I in Orlando,FL. First had a phone interview with someone for the IL headquarters. She called me 15 minutes late so I was pretty frustrated about that when she finally decided to call. The interview took about 30 minutes and she just asked standard behavioral questions, strengths and weaknesses, and asked me to go through my resume for her. About 15 minutes into the interview I heard dogs barking in the background. She freaked out and kept saying sorry that she was "working from home." She told me someone would be calling in 2 days schedule a face to face interview. Didn't actually get a call until two weeks later.
The face to face interview wasn't that much better. I got there 10 minutes early for a 10AM appointment. I didn't get called in to see anyone until 10:45AM. Apparently the people at DeVry have no sense of punctuality. The interviewers (there were 2) were dressed in jeans and baggy t-shirts. One of them mentioned that it was casual Friday, but honestly if you know you're interview people you might want to dress a little nicer. The interview went well. They described the position and asked just about the same questions as during the phone interview. After the interview they put me with someone that was working to see what the a day working as an advisor would be like. They said they would get back to me in 3 buisness days and I still haven't heard back from anyone and it's been 2 weeks since I had my interview.
Interview Question – What would you tell a student that told you no other university charges an application fee like DeVry does? Answer Question
Admissions Advisor I Interview (Negative Experience; Easy Interview)
I applied online and the process took 3 weeks - interviewed at DeVry University in December 2012.
Interview Details – I applied online on a monday, recieved a phone call from a recruiter the next day after I applied. She set up a phone interview time for the following day. I spoke with the same person again over the phone. She asked question about my prior work experience and how I would handle different situations, the typical sales interview process. After the phone interview said somebody else will call me to set up an in person interview. She emailed me forms I had to fill out and a personality test, which I did right after the interview. A guy called me the next day to set up a interview time for the following day. I arrived for my interview that friday about five minutes early. I sat in the lobby and waited for about 15-20 minutes after my scheduled interview time, I didn't get offered any water or nothing. A guy and a girl finally came out to come interview me. They said they didn't know about the interview with me and that I didn't have a profile in the system which was bs because I did the forms on the computer the recruiter sent me 2 days prior. I had to give them my extra copies of my resume which I always have with me because I didn't have a profile. (so bring a bunch of resumes when you interview) The guy did pretty much all the talking while the girl wrote notes all over my nice resume. After the basic resume and experience questions he talked mainly about the University, what it had to offer as far as benefits, and the training needed to perform the job, the girl would jump in randomly with a personality question or talk about how difficult the job is. She kept looking at the time while he was asking me questions and talking about devry. It was clear they weren't on the same page at all. Lol. When I was done she asked if I had any questions while she was cleaning up the interview table up, (stacking my resume and grabbing her pen) so I asked a question directed towards the guy to waste more time since clearly it seemed like I was wasting hers. Lol. The guy said they will give me a call if I made the cut to interview with the dean of the school. We shook hands and the guy walked me to the entrance of the school while the girl left after we shook hands. I knew I wasn't going to get the job if she had anything to do with it. Lol. I got a rejection email about 2 weeks after that.
Interview Question – They asked your basic sales interview questions like "what coud you add to our team" Answer Question
Associate Dean Business Interview (Negative Experience; Easy Interview)
I applied online and the process took 2 months - interviewed at DeVry University in September 2012.
Interview Details – I applied online for the position. I received a phone call within 24 hours of my submission. I had an interview with HR which went well. I was then passed on the Dean, Associate Deans and Campus President. Each of these went well. I waited 40 days to get a non response as to whether an offer was forthcoming. I received 3 offers from competitors but wanted to see this situation to completion given i was interested in Devry. Finally, I called back HR and was disappointed that there was no decision. The HR person indicated to me that they were obviously in no hurry to fill the position. This was counter to the information given by the Campus President or Deans. After this I withdrew from the position an accepted an offer with another academic institution. Three days after I withdrew I received an email which didn't even have my name on it indicating they would be pursuing other candidates. Classy.
Interview Question – The interview questions were behavior type questions. Answer Question
