Collateral Specialist Interview

Collateral Specialist
Sacramento, CA

I applied through a recruiter - interviewed at Dealertrack Technologies in April 2014.

Interview Details – I was called in for this position. Cleared the first interview, which was conducted for an hour, and were all personality based questions. Two weeks later, was called for a second interview, which was for 20 mins, and they were personality based questions as well. Cleared the interview but was declined. I was told that I was overqualified for that position.

I applied online and the process took 1 week - interviewed at Dealertrack Technologies in October 2013.

Interview Details – Initial phone interview with HR followed by a recorded, one-way, video interview. Next was an online personality profile test followed by a short phone conversation with the hiring manager. Last step was a one-on-one meeting with the hiring manager. I had been directed by HR to prepare a Powerpoint presentation.

Interview Question – Nothing difficult was asked. The video interview was five questions which I was provided in advance.   Answer Question

Director of Project Management Interview

Director of Project Management
Lake Success, NY

I applied through other source and the process took a day - interviewed at Dealertrack Technologies in July 2013.

Interview Details – Recruiter contacted immediately after receiving resume, called back and it was clearly a bad time -- I was put on hold continually for the first 10 minutes before we even start the conversation, so that was off-putting and seemed very disorganized. Recruiter then went back and forth from a list of questions, barely letting a sentence complete before he was on to the next question. Process was intended to be a one-way communication (they ask, you answer), and when I inquired on understanding the role further, he was evasive on any details (staff, team, environment, # of reports, why is the role available, etc.).

The approach was less learning about the candidate and getting a 'cultural/personality match', and not at all whether the candidate would be interested in the role (he immediately assumes you are). Enough to suggest I won't proceed further.

Interview Question – No particularly difficult questions, unless you count expressing your answer without the interviewer cutting you off mid-syllable.   Answer Question

I applied online - interviewed at Dealertrack Technologies in July 2013.

Interview Details – I was contacted by email to schedule a short phone conversation with the recruiter. After that I was offered to be flown out to Salt Lake City for an in person interview the following week. During that interview I spoke with two people one with me in the room and the other via speaker phone. I spoke with them for almost and hour about my training experience and what the job entailed. After the Interview I had some HR questions and spent some time with the SR HR manager. I was told I would hear back with in 48 hours.......that was a week ago and no offer or rejection either.

Interview Question – Very average question about background and my experience.   Answer Question

I applied online and the process took 1 week - interviewed at Dealertrack Technologies in June 2013.

Interview Details – Recruiter called asking basic questions about background. Stated it is a job which travels 100% of the time and you are REQUIRED to use your OWN credit card because they do not provide company credit cards. This card must have a $5000 limit. I couldn't meet this and never got another call from them.

Security Risk Assessment Manager Interview

Security Risk Assessment Manager
Lake Success, NY

I applied online and the process took 4 days - interviewed at Dealertrack Technologies in October 2012.

Interview Details – I was supposed to meet only with the head of IT security. I actually did interview with him but all of a sudden I had to meet two other tech people. They brought me in to a very narrow claustrophobic room and they start shooting questions in a very high rhythm and in very different manner and topic.
I missed a few because of the speed and lack of concentration. I already got in to “repulsion mode”.
The position was strictly managerial and less technical and I was caught by surprise.
Then the human resources person showed up acting as a savior reminding me not to worry because there are not looking at the technological part. She assured me that she will give me an answer by next day.
I was waiting 4 days then I call even though I knew I was not chosen, but I wanted to find out for sure.
No call back …. After few days I put another phone call …no answer. Finally after few days the rejection email came tom my email.

Interview Question – Very technical question ...more like administrator type less managerial   Answer Question

I applied online and the process took 5 weeks - interviewed at Dealertrack Technologies in July 2012.

Interview Details – I had a phone interview with the Team Lead to discuss the basic requirements for the position and invited me for an interview at their office.

Then I had my first interview at their office on July 17, 2012 with the Team Lead. He asked me few technical questions, 1-2 behavior questions as well and discussed about the company. He told me that he will be conducting a second interview (Panel Interview) and will let me know in 1-2 weeks regarding the same.

The very next day he invited me for a second interview on July 24, 2012. The second interview was supposed to be a Panel Interview but the Senior Manager took the second interview and he repeated the same technical questions, asked me regarding the position I have applied for and asked few behavior questions. Even he told me that they will let me know regarding their hiring decision with 2 weeks.

After 3 days I received an email from them asking for a copy of my Official Transcript, Which I provided them on the very next business day. Then after few days I received an email from them that I was on their shortlist of candidates for consideration and their HR will be contacting me shortly to arrange for the final interview.

On the same day I received an email from the HR for the final interview on August 3, 2012. The interview went well and I was again told that they will update me with their hiring decision within 2 weeks. On August 9, 2012, I received an email from the HR that they are very interested in me blah blah and are awaiting approval on this position from their New York office.

I did not hear back from them after that and on August 16, 2012, I asked for an update on my application to which they replied 'Unfortunately some of our positions have been placed on hold by our NY head office and we are not able to fill them at this time' - August 20. 2012.
