I applied through OCR position and went to the second round. It was very competitive, but interview process was fun because I had time to look around the office with professionals and network with them before and after the interview. So I could learn so many things from the process.

I did a first round on campus interview with Deloitte for the Summer Leadership Program. Although I can say that it wasn't personally my best interview (due to being nervous), I thought their style of interviewing wasn't the best. It felt more like an interrogation than an interview. The partner would often challenge my answers and show disapproval on his facial expression when he didn't like what I said.

Initially I had talked to the campus recruiter at my university's career fair who suggested that I apply online for the summer leadership position. Online application was not too bad, and led to an interview at my university with an Alumnus. After getting picked out of the first round of interviews I was then selected to go into the regional office to interview with a Senior Manager and Partner. Overall it was a very well organized recruiting process and the campus recruiters do a lot to keep you informed of what is happening in your area and what to do next.

You may be able to negotiate where you would like to intern your Junior summer, but be careful because they very much like to fill their offices with students from surrounding universities. (i.e. New York office with students from NYU)

Sent in my app and got contacted around a week later. Had my interview 1 and a half week after sending in my app. During the interview she just asked me simple questions to get to know me. The whole interview was very stress-free to encourage me to be myself. A week later I got invited to Deloitte's National Leadership Conference.

    Summer Leadership - Advisory Interview

I applied through college or university – interviewed at Deloitte.

    Interview Details

Began with a campus interview which I obtained from attending career fair (also my first time meeting anyone from the firm). After that I was extended an office visit to their Boca Raton office (although my location preference somehow got miscommunicated from Tampa to South Florida, so in actuality it should have been for Tampa). I was put up in the Marriott right near the office and had dinner at Mortons in the same complex the night prior. Interviews next day consisted of 4 separate, 30 minute, back-to-back interviews with employees ranging from Manager to Senior Manager. Overall a pretty decent interview experience and an awesome office visit. I did not expect so many interviews though.

    Interview Questions
    • I don't remember the specific questions but only 1 of the 4 people asked me "questions" which he read from a sheet (I don't think he was the most talkative person so that might have been why he would do that rather than just have a conversation). Not real hard, but many were similar to what you might find online like "Why do you want this position?" or "Tell me a time where you dealt with difficult people."   Answer Question

My biggest advice: Get to know your campus recruiter!!! THEY CAN DO A LOT FOR YOU! If they like you, they can pull some strings for you to make sure you at least get an opportunity to prove yourself!!!!

I was only interested in the DNLC when I applied but they said they were interviewing me for the Summer Mentor Program as well

I had a mock interview with the Deloitte recruiter from the Boston area. He was very kind and the interview started off VERY conversational and only asked me to elaborate on a few things on my resume. Just be talkative and know yourself well. If you know how to talk to people and be friendly, you'll be fine! Then I had a 20 minute 1:1 info session with him as an event at my school (UMass). We talked more. He remembered me and I just tried to show how interested I was in Deloitte (VERY!!!). Then I was invited for a 1st round interview on campus.

I got to the interview half an hour early but since they were late by 1/2 an hour, I was sitting in the waiting room for an hour. I talked to the recruiter and a member of the audit staff he'd brought along. I think because I was there so long they remembered me and I was able to ask a lot of questions and really distinguish myself. I think both of them really liked me. We talked a lot about their experiences at Deloitte.

The interview was very conversational again. We talked about opportunities at Deloitte, things on my resume, where I see myself in the future, etc. MAKE SURE YOU HAVE QUESTIONS TO ASK!

I was interviewing for the New York office so my stuff was forwarded to them and within 10 days I got a call from the recruiter saying the New York office would be inviting me for second round interviews.

They flew me out to NY and the second round interview consisted of an office tour, a breakfast with a senior staff in your department (tax for me), 2 30-minute back to back interviews with partners, and 3 20-minute group discussions with random staff telling you about Deloitte. Everyone was very friendly. Second round interviews were just like the first round.

I got a call 2 days after my interview, telling me I was being offered a spot in their Summer Mentor Program.

The Summer Mentor Program is where while you have an internship or day job, you meet with Deloitte a few times a week at night where you are assigned a mentor and you do exercises, team-building things, give presentations, and just learn more about the company. I think you are normally offered an internship at the end if you do okay. Not sure though.
