    Business Technology Analyst Interview

    Difficult Interview

    Application

I applied through a recruiter. The process took 5 days. I interviewed at Deloitte (Rosslyn, VA).

    Interview

Contacted by Recruiter Technical phone screening, I was 2 years of experience less then what they were looking for, I showed "eagerness" over the conversation that they invited me to an in person interview. In Person 3 Rounds: 1st: HR (unfortunately) my HR was someone who didn't care about the interview, he talked down a lot and wasn't interested in striking a conversation. 2nd round: Talked about previous projects, SDLC, and anything on your resume 3rd Round: Consulting: They want to see what steps you took in order to come up with a solution, make sure you name risks at the end, also talk about stakeholders and ask questions. This interviewer was also not very inviting. They have a beautiful workplace, and I met a lot of friendly people on the location, but 2 of my 3 interviewers seemed like they'd rather be at a happy hour somewhere in Clarendon.

I applied through college or university. I interviewed at Deloitte.

    Interview

Interview had 2 rounds, with Round 1 consisting of a 30 minute interview with a Consulting Manager, and a 30 minute case study with a Partner. The case study was about healthcare, and talking about integrating manual records into a new database system. The behavioral interview dictates whether or not you move on to the next round, because mine didn't go as well as other people's but my case study went really well. Not invited to next round of interviews.

    Interview

Applied through on campus recruiting. First part of the process was a 'coffee chat' with the Director of the practice. This was forced upon everyone because he could not decide who to give the real interviews to. Then the next week the actual interview came. First interviewer was a manager. He asked vague questions about hypothetical school and work scenarios. He challenged every answer, seemingly unsatisfied with the premises he himself had come up with. None of these questions had much to do with what skills I possessed. Second interviewer was a senior manager. He seemed half asleep after a full day of conducting interviews. He first asked me to describe what the job would be and was unsatisfied with my answer. His explanation of the job turned out equally as vague as my explanation. Then he asked yet another set of vague questions, this time about a hypothetical project. He rudely would not let me finish my answers. It seems nobody could actually pinpoint what this job or practice actually does. It seems the point of the practice is for banks to outsource their most boring uncreative regulatory work.

    Interview

The interview process was very quick. There were two rounds of interviews, both have two 30 minutes interviews with senior managers and partner. You know the result of the first round interview at the evening of that day and got the second interview the next day of it. There were all behavioral questions.

    Easy Interview

    Application

I applied online. The process took 4+ weeks. I interviewed at Deloitte in March 2015.

    Interview

It was a couple phone interviews and a final video conference interview. All the phone interviews got an excellent feedback. The video conference interview was easy, it didn't look like they really planned what they were going to ask. It was more like random thoughts. The problem is with the recruiters, she is not a professional. I had better recruiters from small IT boutiques than from this big corporation. My view about this company has changed and I don't longer have a great opinion of them.

    Interview Questions

    • Really simple questions, those questions were more random than a planned interview. They didn't take the time to have some coherence on their questions. They were jumping from topic to topic. I answer all of them. They wanted to present an offer for a different location that I was applying. The recruiter later drop the ball and stop all communication. A company at this caliber and having that type of recruiters, left a bad taste. I am professional and I can take a "NO" as an answer, but they decided to ignore all requests from my side and hide in a hole. My admiration for this company has just vanished.   Answer Question

    Application

I applied through college or university. I interviewed at Deloitte (Atlanta, GA) in March 2015.

    Interview

I worked with a recruiter, and the process was pretty smooth. I was emailed the information regarding the interview. Once I confirmed, the hotel room was booked. I drove up on a Wednesday for a Thursday morning interview. I met with 3 different individuals (a senior consultant and 2 managers). Each interview was one-on-one. They asked a lot of "get to know you" type questions. It was more of a conversation. Everybody was really nice. The body language of the 3rd interviewer, however, gave me the impression that he was a little "bored" with me. I probably didn't have enough conversation pieces to keep him engaged.
