I applied through college or university. The process took 2 weeksinterviewed at Deloitte in February 2012.

    Interview Details

Went to a networking event that Deloitte was hosting on my campus, was encouraged to apply for the internship through my school's career services website. I was notified about a week later that I had been selected for the first round of interviews. They held a "Pre-Interview Reception" the night before our interview that allowed us to meet with the associates that would interviewing us. This also aloud us to see some of the people we were competing with because everyone had a name tag with the position they were applying for. This event is an excellent opportunity to really set your self apart from your competition. It would be a huge mistake for you to miss or underestimate this event, I would consider it to be another round of interviews, and very beneficial towards your comfort level in your official interview. The following day I had two half-hour interviews with separate ERS Managers, one from the federal practice and one from commercial. They had both graduated from my school, so it was easy to find common ground (i.e. we spoke about classes I was enrolled in and the different professors). Both interviews were very lade back, they started out by telling me about themselves. Next, they looked over my resume asked me a few questions about it and gave me an opportunity to highlight any of my experience that I wanted to. After reviewing my resume, I was asked a few general behavioral questions, none of them being too challenging, see below for exact questions. My recruiter told me they would be in touch in the next two weeks if I had made it to the next round of interviews. I sent follow up emails to both of the managers who interviewed me, as well as one other manager I spoke extensively with at the reception, I did not hear back from any of them but am not offended - these people are extremely busy. Three days after my interview, I received an email congratulating me for being invited to the 2nd round of interviews. I will be traveling to DC and touring there Rosslyn office, I have two more half-hour interviews scheduled along with a few other events. I look forward to this opportunity and I am optimistic about the opportunity of working for this great firm.

Overall, I could not have asked for anything more out of this recruiting experience. They really put in the extra effort to make you feel comfortable, which is why they are able to recruit the best talent. Everyone I have met with throughout this experience has been very friendly, and at no point did I ever feel intimidated by any of them. They all seemed like they genuinely wanted to help you out as much as possible, whether that be with Deloitte, or giving you general career advice.

I was contacted by the recruiter via email. We set up a time to talk, and I went through an initial basic interview for 30 minutes over the phone. I was invited in to interview with a few senior managers. The interview was set up 1 on 1 style with three sr managers. After a couple days, I was invited to a final round interview. Interviewed with another senior member. Offer made about a week after.

I applied through college or university. The process took 2 daysinterviewed at Deloitte in November 2011.

    Interview Details

Consisted of four 1 on 1 interviews which were done in two rounds. The first round was on campus and focused primarily on personality questions (describe a time). The first interviewer was really nice and laid back and seemed to really want to prepare you for the next interview. The second interview was more difficult for a couple reasons:

    1. Interviewer had someone of an accent and spoke very fast. It was hard to understand the questions at times.
    2. He seemed to rush through the questions and yawned all throughout as I answered his questions which I found to be rude. I'm pretty sure these were the last interviews of the day and he just wanted to leave.
    3. You better know your stuff technically because he threw a lot of technical questions out there. Luckily I got most of them.

After the first round, I got an email asking me to come in for a second round which was on location. A group of us were all selected for this and we took turns being interviewed on a 1 on 1 basis. These interviews didn't seem to be as technical, but a little more in depth than before. I felt the first interview on location to be a little awkward since the person interviewing me told me they actually didn't really know what to ask me since they usually don't do them and I was asked a lot of yes/no questions which made it hard to elaborate. The second interviewer was very professional and was ready with questions, but laid back at the same time as well. Expect a callback within a week or so.

I applied through college or university. The process took 4 weeksinterviewed at Deloitte in October 2011.

    Interview Details

A typical interview for a public accounting firm. The hardest part is getting through the first interview and being asked to participate in the in-office second round. During that second interview, you have a 'gauntlet' 3 interviews (1 manager, 1 partner, and another senior manager or partner/principal/director). Having a solid GPA and transcript record on-top of other extracurriculars (service and social groups are a big plus), will help you get an opportunity to gain that second interview.

    Interview Questions
    • I had put on my resume that one of my skills was public speaking since I worked as a tour guide for my university's admissions department for 4 years and also did some Q&A sessions with high school students. The ERS partner called me out on this skill and had me, on the spot, prove to him that this was a skill and I wasn't just using it since it makes me look good. I basically had to talk for about 5-10 min straight about myself and a common topic of the partner's choosing (Why I wanted to be an auditor) and essentially hold a conversation for the entire interview.   Answer Question
    Negotiation Details
Since I was a campus hire, I could not do much negotiating. The other offers I had were from non-Big 4 firms, which does nothing as far as seeking more money in the offer.

I applied through college or university. The process took 2 weeksinterviewed at Deloitte in October 2011.

    Interview Details

I first applied to Deloitte through a campus hiring site. I was then contacted for a campus interview and attended a pre-reception. The campus interview was very conversational with a few analytical type questions thrown in. Know your resume and experiences! The second interview was on-site. It only took the morning and then we headed to lunch with a new hire. You meet with the recruiter, principals, and partners. This is also conversational but be prepared to ask them thoughtful questions as well.

There is 1 major interview which lasts 3 hours. You get to meet a manager, senior manager, and a director/partner. Be prepared to answer technical questions, behavioral questions, and know about the company. T

    • I had a few creative behavioral questions. One of them "do you have experience selling something"? It is hard to answer for someone who has never done sales.   Answer Question

I did not negotiate, I just took whatever they offered because I wanted the job. My advice is go ahead and negotiate, as they will not give you a huge pay increase.
