I applied through college or university and the process took 2 days - interviewed at Deloitte in October 2011.

Interview Details – First interview was arranged through my university's career posting website. The interview was actually held at a nearby hotel which Deloitte booked in order to accommodate all of the students interviewing. There were two 30-45 minute interviews- one with a senior employee and another with a more junior one. Both were behavioral and fairly straightforward.

I received a call the night of to notify me of their invitation to a second-round interview. The time of which was arranged using an Excel spreadsheet that they sent beforehand for candidates to indicate time availability and office location preferences (top 3). As such, they arranged a 7:30am second-round interview the very next day.

The second-round interview was generally more of the same thing. This time, my first interview was with an HR representative that tried to assess my behavioral fit rather than technical/professional experience. She asked me to describe specific products that I mentioned, such as SAP, in terms that someone unfamiliar with the subject could understand. After that interview, I was put in an interview with two employees- one manager and one principal. They covered more of my experience and what I hoped to accomplish or explore with my career. A little more difficult, but they were receptive and helpful throughout the whole process.

Later in the day, I received a call from one of the interviewers unofficially notifying me that I had been selected. There were no more interviews, and there were never any office visits as part of my interview process. According to others that have interviewed with them before, my experience was not normal and was actually rather quick since it did not involve any travel nor activities other than standard behavioral (no case) interviews.

Interview Questions

  • Please describe a project that you were proud of and what were the results?   Answer Question
  • Why did you place NYC as your first choice whereas many of your classmates opted for Chicago (which is much closer to the university)?   Answer Question

Negotiation Details – No negotiation process for entry-level hires. My official offer letter was sent over email. All I had to do was print, sign, scan, and re-send.

I applied through an employee referral and the process took 4+ weeks - interviewed at Deloitte in March 2011.

Interview Details – A tech screen and then a series of 3 in-office interviews. It was pretty laid back overall because my referral told me what to expect. I interviewed with two managers and a partner. The partner was definitely the hard-ass of the bunch, but... really not that bad.

Interview Questions

  • Have you ever performed a reconciliation before?   View Answer
  • What kind of SAS experience do you have?   View Answer

Negotiation Details – Non-existent. I came from the non-profit world and I barely made anything before. I think they probably just offered me whatever the low rung on the totem pole gets.

I applied through college or university and the process took 2 weeks - interviewed at Deloitte in October 2011.

Interview Details – I first applied to Deloitte through a campus hiring site. I was then contacted for a campus interview and attended a pre-reception. The campus interview was very conversational with a few analytical type questions thrown in. Know your resume and experiences! The second interview was on-site. It only took the morning and then we headed to lunch with a new hire. You meet with the recruiter, principals, and partners. This is also conversational but be prepared to ask them thoughtful questions as well.

I applied through college or university and the process took 2 weeks - interviewed at Deloitte in February 2012.

Interview Details – Went to a networking event that Deloitte was hosting on my campus, was encouraged to apply for the internship through my school's career services website. I was notified about a week later that I had been selected for the first round of interviews. They held a "Pre-Interview Reception" the night before our interview that allowed us to meet with the associates that would interviewing us. This also aloud us to see some of the people we were competing with because everyone had a name tag with the position they were applying for. This event is an excellent opportunity to really set your self apart from your competition. It would be a huge mistake for you to miss or underestimate this event, I would consider it to be another round of interviews, and very beneficial towards your comfort level in your official interview. The following day I had two half-hour interviews with separate ERS Managers, one from the federal practice and one from commercial. They had both graduated from my school, so it was easy to find common ground (i.e. we spoke about classes I was enrolled in and the different professors). Both interviews were very lade back, they started out by telling me about themselves. Next, they looked over my resume asked me a few questions about it and gave me an opportunity to highlight any of my experience that I wanted to. After reviewing my resume, I was asked a few general behavioral questions, none of them being too challenging, see below for exact questions. My recruiter told me they would be in touch in the next two weeks if I had made it to the next round of interviews. I sent follow up emails to both of the managers who interviewed me, as well as one other manager I spoke extensively with at the reception, I did not hear back from any of them but am not offended - these people are extremely busy. Three days after my interview, I received an email congratulating me for being invited to the 2nd round of interviews. I will be traveling to DC and touring there Rosslyn office, I have two more half-hour interviews scheduled along with a few other events. I look forward to this opportunity and I am optimistic about the opportunity of working for this great firm.

Overall, I could not have asked for anything more out of this recruiting experience. They really put in the extra effort to make you feel comfortable, which is why they are able to recruit the best talent. Everyone I have met with throughout this experience has been very friendly, and at no point did I ever feel intimidated by any of them. They all seemed like they genuinely wanted to help you out as much as possible, whether that be with Deloitte, or giving you general career advice.

A++

I applied through college or university and the process took 2 days - interviewed at Deloitte in November 2011.

Interview Details – Consisted of four 1 on 1 interviews which were done in two rounds. The first round was on campus and focused primarily on personality questions (describe a time). The first interviewer was really nice and laid back and seemed to really want to prepare you for the next interview. The second interview was more difficult for a couple reasons:

1. Interviewer had someone of an accent and spoke very fast. It was hard to understand the questions at times.
2. He seemed to rush through the questions and yawned all throughout as I answered his questions which I found to be rude. I'm pretty sure these were the last interviews of the day and he just wanted to leave.
3. You better know your stuff technically because he threw a lot of technical questions out there. Luckily I got most of them.

After the first round, I got an email asking me to come in for a second round which was on location. A group of us were all selected for this and we took turns being interviewed on a 1 on 1 basis. These interviews didn't seem to be as technical, but a little more in depth than before. I felt the first interview on location to be a little awkward since the person interviewing me told me they actually didn't really know what to ask me since they usually don't do them and I was asked a lot of yes/no questions which made it hard to elaborate. The second interviewer was very professional and was ready with questions, but laid back at the same time as well. Expect a callback within a week or so.
