Difficult Interview

Manager Interview

Manager
Hyderābād (India)

I applied through a recruiter and the process took 7 weeks - interviewed at Deloitte.

Interview Details – 4 levels of interviews. Passed all 4. Recruiter was not at all professional. Kept scheduling telephonic calls and the appointment times were never kept. Was never updated timely. Looked like they were doing a great favor for even scheduling a call with the recruiter. Interviewers were nice and professional.

Interview Question – Other than usual questions on why us, 3 strengths and weaknesses, a case study was given which was a bit un-expected.   Answer Question

Manager

I applied through an employee referral and the process took 2 weeks - interviewed at Deloitte in March 2012.

Interview Details – A technical phone interview was scheduled within a week of HR screening. The interviewer was experienced in his domain but lacked personality and was a bit arrogant when asking questions. It was one of the worst interview experiences I had. Bottomline we did not connect. Got a ding in a couple of days.

Manager Interview

Manager
London, England (UK)

I applied online and the process took 2 months - interviewed at Deloitte in October 2010.

Interview Details – Applied online. Positive response two weeks later.
1:1 interview then occured two weeks later.
Took over three weeks to get feedback for which I had to chase.

The 1:1 interview was with a Senior Manager. Was a comfortable interview in terms of chatting about my capabilites and experiences as well as the role on offer.

It wasn't clear from the interview itself, but the feedback recieved was that I was not as the Manager level and there was a mismatch in applying for that level. At the Manager level, they expected significantly more consultancy experience (in terms of generating business) and leading projects and teams than what I had.

The individual who interviewed me came across well (informal but focussed), and the area of work on offer looked like it had lots of potential.

Interview Question – Please give an example of where you personally generated a new opportunity or developed a new capability?   Answer Question
