HR communication process is good, but the company interview expense reimbursement is REALLY cheap.
The expense report clearly stated that the meals are reimbursed if the company has not paid for the expense. However, my final check was revised down not including the meals expense and i had to drive 2 hours outside of my home address. (close to 4 hrs round trip).

I applied through college or university. The process took 3+ monthsinterviewed at Deloitte in November 2013.

    Interview Details

After interviewing on campus, I was invited to visit the San Francisco office. The visit began with a two hour informal meet and greet dinner. The next morning, we returned to the office for a short presentation followed by interviews. I attended three one-on-one interviews, followed by a group lunch interview. After lunch, we were dismissed and told that we would be notified of the decision within two weeks. A month later, I had not yet heard a decision. After contacting the HR representative, I was told that the team was still making a decision and thus needed more time. I did not hear anything further from the company for an additional month.

I had an on-campus first round interview which consisted of 30-minute behavioral and 30-minute case interview. The case interview revolved around one problem regarding the recent health care reform. The final round was in-office and consisted of one night with social mixer and dinner with the employees there and one day from 8am to 3pm of interviews (3 behavioral, 1 individual case, and 1 group case).

    Interview Questions
    • the most difficult part of the final round is the group case, because it is a human capital question that has little to do with actuarial knowledge. You are put into a team of 2 - 4 and the other candidates are non-actuarial human capital candidates. You are given an hour to work on the long question with an analyst that is supposed to keep you on track (but she was jotting down notes about us the whole time during our discussion). Then we present our powerpoint to 2 managers. They gruel you about your powerpoint afterwards, and if you are not familiar with human capital concepts, you will have a very hard time like I did.   View Answer

I applied through college or university. The process took 1+ weekinterviewed at Deloitte in October 2012.

I attended a series of information sessions hosted by Deloitte at my college campus. Through these sessions, I engaged in probably half of a dozen one hour plus conversations that allowed me to develop an understanding of the company's different services, company culture, and expectations for undergraduate interns. Everyone I met was genuinely friendly and eager to share their experiences with the company.

When applying to the internship online, I leveraged some of the information I learned about the company by referencing employees I had spoken with. About a week after submitting the application, I received an invitation to attend first-round interview which took place at my campus career center.

After walking into the career center I could immediately tell that this was a highly streamline process. There were about fifteen students in the lobby interviewing for various internship positions within Deloitte during my one hour session. The interview process consisted of two half-hour interviews with Deloitte employees in the Advisory and Enterprise Risk Services department that I applied to. The questions were mostly behavioral and overall the interview felt very informal.

My first interviewer I had met at a prior info session and carried out the interview like a casual conversation: getting to know me, my past experiences, and why I wanted to work at Deloitte in their specific department. The second interviewer explained in detail what he did at Deloitte and then asked me to explain the reasoning behind some of the processes he mentioned. He asked a few other questions to see how I approached unfamiliar questions and I walked him through my thought process as I came to a conclusion. I expected to be asked to explain the relationship between the main financial statements but that wasn't covered. Overall, the interviews seemed very relaxed and casual.

    Interview Questions
    • What is your preferred method of communication? i.e. e-mail, in person, via telephone, etc. If you were working at Deloitte on a project for company XYZ, and one of the employees of XYZ had a piece of data that you needed to complete your project, how would you go about contacting him? If that employee had not responded to your e-mail, voice message, or other efforts how would you go about getting the information?   View Answer

Contatcted initially through school's employment website and various info sessions on my campus. Interview process was extremely competitive as over 30+ vied for 1 position. However, fairly standard interview with fifty percent on behavioral questions and the rest on case studies. Very informative and friendly in the interview, but tehy are just trying to see the way you think.
