Business Intelligence Analyst Interview (Neutral Experience; Average Interview)
I applied through a recruiter and the process took 1+ week - interviewed at DriveTime Automotive Group in May 2014.
Interview Details – The job listing and initial phone interview detailed a certain set of required skills. Based on the phone interview - with a member of the hiring department, not an HR screen - I had exactly the skill sets that person needed to join his team. Upon meeting at the firm in person, a different individual on the hiring team drilled me on a very different set of required skills, which I did not have, was not discussed with prior team member, and did not appear on the job listing. Disappointing, frustrating, a waste of my time, and evidence that they are not communicating well.
Interview Question – Numerous queries as to apparently required skills not previously detailed or discussed. Answer Question
Very Easy Interview
Sales Advisor Interview (Negative Experience; Very Easy Interview)
I interviewed at DriveTime Automotive Group in April 2014.
Interview Details – Drivetime had me talk to a general manager and a sales manager first then later on that same day I met with the marketing manager who told me that I would find out about the decision by the next day. Next day the HR person called and asked me to go to third face to face interview about an hour from my house. The whole time everyone acted like I was going to be hired. After the third face to face interview I was told I would be given a call either way. Next day no call but an email telling me that I didn't get hired. I called the HR person and was told that they choose someone that had more experience. I was told in the first interview that they were looking to hire more than one person. I guess this was not the case.
Interview Question – Tell me about yourself. Answer Question
Software Intern Interview (Neutral Experience; Average Interview)
I applied online and the process took 2 weeks - interviewed at DriveTime Automotive Group in January 2013.
Interview Details – 2nd interview over the phone
Interview Question – Abstract vs interface? Answer Question
Managerial Interview (Negative Experience; Average Interview)
Interviewed at DriveTime Automotive Group
Interview Details – Had an interview over the phone with the HR and later with the hiring Manager. Called for the onsite interview with two Managers. First scheduled interview was cancelled and re-scheduled by them due to the production issues. When finally interview date came the other interviewer was late. Thought the interview went well but suddenly I was told the second group interview was going to be re-scheduled at a later date with different team since that was a better match. Well, I was never contacted as promised. Most weird interview experience I ever had as a whole.
Interview Question – Work related questions and some behavioral ones. Answer Question
Software Intern Interview (Negative Experience; Easy Interview)
I applied through an employee referral and the process took 1 week - interviewed at DriveTime Automotive Group in January 2013.
Interview Details – Had a friend that worked there, he got me an interview.
Contacted with HR and interviewed in Phoenix corporate office.
Hiring manager was intense but super nice.
HR women never got back to me.
Interview Question – No technical questions, mostly behavioural Answer Question
Entry Level Recruiter Interview (Positive Experience; Easy Interview)
I applied online - interviewed at DriveTime Automotive Group in April 2013.
Interview Details – The initial communication was done over email. A recruiter reached me wanting to set up an interview. I was excited at the prospect of getting into the recruiting world. I emailed the recruiter a few days/times that worked for me but never heard back from her. I only heard back after I sent another email to her two days later. She was able to get me an interview immediately. I did my research on drivetime and was pleasantly surprised on how large of a building the mesa office was. It's a call center environment. The Receptionist wasn't the friendliest but the guy I interviewed with was overly nice and friendly.I found it a little weird that they didn't want to do a phone interview first especially since I have no prior experience in recruiting.
Interview Question – There really wasn't a lot of questions during my interview Answer Question
Quantitative Analyst Interview (Neutral Experience)
I applied online and the process took 2 weeks - interviewed at DriveTime Automotive Group.
Interview Details – Two rounds of phone screening interviews and one in person interview. Both phone interviews are pretty easy. They just want to know what kind of person you are and then go through your resume. The onsite interview is more formal, about an hour and half. The whole atmosphere is pretty lay back and there are not many tough "technical" questions.
Interview Question – They give you an scenarios which would require some data mining skills. And they want to know how are you going to solve the problem. Answer Question
General Manager Interview (Negative Experience; Average Interview)
I applied online and the process took 5 days - interviewed at DriveTime Automotive Group in March 2013.
Interview Details – Applied online I had two phone interviews and one in-person interview with a Area Manager. The job posting was for a position in my area and another was 20 miles away. It was very clear at the in-person interview that the local position I applied was only going to be available if I move out of state after the 6 month training program.
Financial Analyst Interview (Neutral Experience)
Interviewed at DriveTime Automotive Group
Interview Details – After an intial discussion at a networking event, I was asked to participate in an initial phone screening. The questions were common, predictable behavioral questions. At one point during the phone screening, a second interviewer came online to answer a question. Overall, the screening went relatively well, but I was not invited to participate in a second round of interviews.
