Administrative Staff Interview

Administrative Staff

I applied online and the process took 2 months - interviewed at EY in April 2013.

Interview Details – I applied online through their website. A month later, they responded by email requesting to set up a phone interview. I had a phone interview the following week that lasted about a half hour, and a day or two after that, I was contacted to set up an in-person interview. That interview went well, and then I was scheduled for a video conference interview the following week. Both interviews were pretty standard. No tricks or surprises. I knew my skill set, and their needs matched my talents. All interviewers were polite and friendly, and everyone seemed happy with the firm.

Interview Question – The questions were all very standard for the role. No surprises.   Answer Question

Advisory Senior III Interview

Advisory Senior III
New York, NY

I applied through an employee referral and the process took 2 weeks - interviewed at EY in April 2014.

Interview Details – Was given an accelerated interview due to a competing offer from another company already on the table. Less than a week after sending in my resume, I was flown to the NYC office where I had 45 min interviews with four people. Later that day I received a phone call and was informed that EY wanted to move forward with making an offer. About a week later I received the offer and accepted shortly afterwards.

Interview Question – What do you know about agile software development? Waterfall? Scrum? Etc.   Answer Question

Negotiation Details – I was asked what my desired salary was. I asked for more than my competing offer, which could not be matched, but was given a very close offer from EY.

I applied through college or university and the process took 4+ weeks - interviewed at EY.

Interview Details – I applied through my school website, received a follow-up call less than a week after the application deadline, and had my first interview a couple days later. The first interview was mostly behavioral-based and revolved around teamwork experience. At the end of the interview, the recruiter said he wanted to bring me into the office for interviews, which was scheduled for a couple weeks later. I interviewed with a manger and a senior manager, who were both extremely friendly. These "interviews" were more like conversations and very comfortable. I think at that point, they were just trying to see if I'd be a good fit. Two days later, I got the offer.

Interview Question – I was never asked any technical questions, but as mentioned above, there were a lot of questions regarding teamwork. I had to pull from a few different experiences so I wasn't repeating myself.   Answer Question

I applied through college or university and the process took 2 weeks - interviewed at EY in October 2013.

Interview Details – Started with a campus interview which was all behavioral questions. I was invited to the office for a visit where I had three interviews. The first was a behavioral interview, the second a case study, and the third was an interview with the Partner. The interview process is not bad at all.

Interview Question – The business case I had was about two companies merging together and the risks associated with the merger, specifically focusing on IT risks.   Answer Question

I applied online and the process took 3 months - interviewed at EY.

Interview Details – Extremely lengthy process typically takes 2-3 months with excessive number of interviews. Decision is by committee and not left up to the individual hiring manager. This commonly prevents the hiring manager from actually choosing or offering based on their intuition for the specific role.

Interview Question – Questions were not difficult, but the sheer number of interviews ensures candidates are jaded and repetitive   Answer Question

Negotiation Details – Offer is always mid-range, always go back for additional salary, was able to achieve $5k bump upwards from initial just by asking.

I applied through a recruiter and the process took 2 months - interviewed at EY in May 2010.

Interview Details – I went through a head hunter and had 3 interviews. It was intimidating as it is a Big 4 accounting Firm and it is very corporate. But the people were pretty nice and I got through it.

Interview Question – I always hate when they ask my greatest weakness!!! They all asked this and what kind of culture I was looking for. Honestly I hate to focus on the negative and if I'm looking for a job most likely I don't care about the culture - I just need to pay my bills!!! But seriously, of course everyone wants a friendly fun environment to work in but do you was that to a bunch of stiff Accountants? Fun isn't on the agenda here!!   Answer Question

I applied through college or university - interviewed at EY in January 2013.

Interview Details – University hiring is easy. If you get a 3.3+ in Accounting major and are a sociable person that can carry on a conversation with professional mannerisms you will get an interview. These firms are throwing out internships and jobs like candy to those with good grades and social skills.

Interview Question – What are your two greatest strengths and two greatest weaknesses?   View Answer

Negotiation Details – No negotiating. Take or leave it straight out of college.
