    IT On-Site Support Specialist Interview

    Application

I applied through an employee referral. The process took 3+ monthsinterviewed at EY (McLean, VA) in February 2014.

    Interview

Horrible experience interviewing with EY. Applied for an IT On-Site Support Specialist Job. Had a phone interview with the recruiter. Less then 24 hrs later I received an email saying they wanted to schedule a phone interview with the hiring manager and his boss. Spent an hour talking to them on the phone. About a week later I received a garbled VM stating I would hear back by Friday with an answer. The next day I called to confirm what I had heard on the message, but the recruiter was out so I left a VM. Friday comes and goes and I don't hear anything so I sent the recruiter an email. No response. 2 more weeks pass and nothing, I send 1 more follow up email and never hear anything. At this point it has now been been almost 2 months since my initial interview. I send an email through LinkedIn to the head recruiter explaining that I was disappointed with the lack of follow up. Oddly enough a couple hours later I get a VM from the recruiter apologizing as well as an email. She said she had been busy but they decided to go with another candidate. A few weeks after that I was browsing the job sites and I saw the same position open again, I emailed the previous recruiter and said I was still interested if they were. At this point they brought me in for about an 1 1/2 hour interview where I was told the previous employee quit after 2 weeks. Anyways I thought everything went great, even was introduced to the folks I would be working with. Then about a week later I receive an email saying they were going to pass on me. Overall this was one of the worst job searching experiences I ever had had.

    Difficult Interview

    Application

I applied through an employee referral. The process took 5+ weeksinterviewed at EY (Secaucus, NJ) in January 2014.

    Interview

Approximately five total interviews facilitated by an in-house recruiter and HR contact within the company. Long 5 week process that felt very thorough and focused on personal questions to get to know you as a candidate as well as a technical dive into your skill-set. In the end, it is a very great interview experience to be part of. I found the interview process to be challenging but I was well prepared. I researched potential interview questions, questions listened on this website, and specific technical items to keep in my head.

    Interview Questions

    • How would you handle difficult people to work with in other departments? Although this wasn't a difficult question, it is a common topic in larger corporations where you might come across other employees who might be difficult to work with but you have to build relationships with.   Answer Question

    Negotiation

I provided them with my current salary and what I was hoping to make early in the interview process. When I was offered a position, they went slightly above what my asking salary was which was unexpected. No need to negotiate but they did seem to do their homework on the value of specific jobs.

IT & Risk Advisory Staff Interview

    Application

I applied through college or university. The process took 6 weeksinterviewed at EY (New York, NY) in November 2013.

    Interview

Applied through my school's campus recruiting website; was invited for an on-campus interview. Before the interview (which consisted of behavioral questions based on my prior experiences) I chatted with the greeters for a while and impressed them with my knowledge of the company and its current events. I got a couple business cards and networked with the greeters via email throughout the interview process. I think this helped me in getting invited to the Super Day in New York. In New York, I had two additional behavior interviews which were very conversational. I also had one case study, which I thought went really well. For the case study, I prepared a SWOT analysis for the fictional situation as I read through the materials. The first four questions I was asked about the case were about Strengths, Weaknesses, Opportunities and Threats so I was very prepared to respond with my analysis.

    Interview Questions

    • The interviewer asked me a very pointed question about one of my past experiences listed on my resume. It had been a while since I'd thought about this particular line item, so I struggled to give specific details when relating my answer. Make sure you thoroughly review your resume before going into the interview - this is where many of the behavioral-based questions will come from!   2 Answers

    Interview

The interviews were really laid back and mainly behavioral. During the second round there is a case interview but it's not too bad. They just want to see your thought processes. Overall not bad.

First round of interview consisted of behavioral questions like :
    1) Why did you choose EY?
    2) Tell me about a time when your team was behind schedule and what you did to resolve this
    3) What have you learnt from your studies?

Interviwer was extremely nice and for the most part, we were talking about my academic program (Masters in information systems), and hobbies / extra-curricular activities.

    Interview

Applied through the campus recruitment. Received first round interview right after the career fair and invited to pre-night social event. Heard back for 2nd round in a week and going to the office next week!

    Interview Questions

    • 1st round is pretty much all about behavior questions, they have a sheet of questions to go through. Some interviewers might be very conversational but mine is all behaviors. e.g.: Tell me about yourself, tell me a time when you have some difficulties in a team. 2nd round is consist of a case and two behavior questions but I heard the case isn't too hard. Just have the basic framework (e.g.: SWOT) in mind and you should be good to go.   1 Answer
