    Data Architect Interview

I applied through a recruiter. The process took 7+ weeksinterviewed at EY in December 2013.

    Interview Details

My resume was submitted through a recruiting agency and it took 55 days to conclude the process.

The call started with a 30 minute technical interview and the call took place on time as scheduled. Then there was a 30 minute call with a Senior Manager (the reporting manager) and he did not call me on time and he even had to interrupt the call to take other calls and said he will schedule another call on the next few days. When he called me 35 minutes early or 25 minutes late (considering the different time zones), I missed the call. He didn’t leave a message. I called back and left a message and I never heard from him. That left a bad taste with me. The third call was with another Senior Manager and it took just 15 minutes as scheduled.

They called me for a super-day in New York. I met an hour with the reporting manager described above. My interview experience with him was negative as he even went on to take a cheap shot on me going into independent consulting upon becoming a permanent resident (Green Card) in US. Interview was generally easy. To one of the question (size of a trading database that I designed for a client), I said a wrong answer and I did not utilize my opportunity to get it corrected. I could have get that answer corrected.

Then I was scheduled for an hour with another Senior Manager who is running the Technology Advisory practice at the client site. He came 10 minutes late and he was unprofessional throughout the 25-30 minutes he was in the room. He do not show interest in listening, interrupt when you speak and goes on to the next thing. He even ended the interview abruptly after 25 minutes.

Next, I met with the Partner/Principal for 30 minutes. The interview went very well with him and he asked great questions and he promptly answer my questions. He was the only one whom I found was genuinely interested during my interviews on Super-Day.

I applied through college or university. The process took 6 weeksinterviewed at EY in November 2013.

    Interview Details

Applied through my school's campus recruiting website; was invited for an on-campus interview. Before the interview (which consisted of behavioral questions based on my prior experiences) I chatted with the greeters for a while and impressed them with my knowledge of the company and its current events. I got a couple business cards and networked with the greeters via email throughout the interview process. I think this helped me in getting invited to the Super Day in New York. In New York, I had two additional behavior interviews which were very conversational. I also had one case study, which I thought went really well. For the case study, I prepared a SWOT analysis for the fictional situation as I read through the materials. The first four questions I was asked about the case were about Strengths, Weaknesses, Opportunities and Threats so I was very prepared to respond with my analysis.

    Interview Questions
    • The interviewer asked me a very pointed question about one of my past experiences listed on my resume. It had been a while since I'd thought about this particular line item, so I struggled to give specific details when relating my answer. Make sure you thoroughly review your resume before going into the interview - this is where many of the behavioral-based questions will come from!   View Answers (2)

Went through the school career website and eventually got through till the super day at the NY office for Technology Advisory. Interview was more evaluation based than a conversation. The case study was very vague but they give you hints to assist you. I suggest you be very well prepared as they can really dig deep into your resume.

Got a phone interview with hr and being invited to an office visit.
At their times square office, interviewed one manager and one senior manager, 1/2 hour each. They do not ask many questions only ask me to bring them through my resume. And then they spend a fair amount of time to explain the role and ask u if u have any question. I do not feel passionate or they are not interested on me.

    Manager Interview

I applied through a recruiter. The process took 10+ monthsinterviewed at EY in October 2013.

Please read if you are an EY interview candidate and wish it doesnt happen to you.

My interview with EY lasted for 10 months. After an initial conversation with the recruiter in Dec 2010, I had a phone interview in Jan 2012, one case interview in the office in Mar 2012 and a final round of interview in Oct 2012. Its a unique situation where I had to wait for months before the next round. Thats because the practice was going through a hiring freeze. My profile was a perfect fit to the job description and through out the process the recruiter was very encouraging about my possibility to get an offer. The feedback from 1st 2 rounds was evident of the fact as well. I let go few other opportuniteis as I was very interested in the position.
Come October, after multiple times of rescheduling, I landed up in EY's NYC office to meet 2 senior managers and 1 partner (hold on to that) on a lovely friday afternoon. My first 2 interviews with senior managers went smooth with usual questions on background and why I wanted to join EY. I was held up for 1 and 1/2 hour in a room before I found out the last interview with partner would be rescheduled. A manager came in to fill in for the partner who had to leave for some urgent client meeting. Had a normal 30 min conversation with the manager and left with a happy but a little disappointing experience, since I wanted to get over this never ending saga. 2 days later my optimistic joruney came to an end when I received an automated message stating the team didnt want to move forward with the process. I wish this whole thing had taken me 10 weeks instead of 10 months.

Forensic Technology and Discovery Services/Internship Interview

I applied through college or university. The process took 2 weeksinterviewed at EY in October 2013.

    Interview Details

I went to an information session for EY consulting on my campus, which is how I got interested in the company. I looked on our career services page and found a number of their listings. I chose to apply to the position that seemed to fit best with my specific engineering major (information and systems.)

I got the first round interview, which ended up being over the phone because the guy could not make it to campus that day. He asked questions about my resume and transcript and why EY and why his division. I got through to the second round NYC office visit. At the visit, there was a short presentation followed by a lunch where we sat down and met our greeters (people that walk you around to each interview and make you feel comfortable.) There were just two behavioral interviews with some very standard behavioral questions. These were in fact my first behavioral interviews ever and I did not feel properly prepared.

Overall, they make you feel very comfortable and it was a good experience. The FTDS department is only about 5 years old and growing quickly. The people are interested in what they do, and I got the idea that everyone takes the recruiting process very seriously despite how busy they are.
