    Senior Consultant Interview

    Application Details

I applied through a staffing agency. The process took 2 months - interviewed at EY in January 2011.

    Interview Details

I was called by a staffing agency for this position. After a long phone conversation with the staffing agency, I was told that about my phone interview with an E&Y personnel.

Phone Interview: Interview was for about 30-40 minutes. Started with the basic questions in regards to my prior education and prior experience. The discussion then went into the projects that I have worked on and my role in each project. The interviewer allowed me to explain each project that was in my resume and would ask questions on them. Fairly easy questions based on the project itself.

Once I cleared this interview, I was informed about the 1:1 interview with 4 employees from E&Y. The 4 interviewers held independent (different) positions and had questions based on their requirements. Initial process was same and I had to explain my background and skill sets along with the projects listed on the resume. Specific question were asked, but again they were based on my projects and experience.

On clearing this process, I was interview 1:1 by a partner who was the leading the department where I was suppose to work. Questions were again about my background. The only difference was that the partner asked me more about the consulting industry and my preference for consulting. He wanted to make sure that I understand the expectations of being a consultant working at client locations.

These were all the interviews that I gave. Unfortunately, the salary was a question mark and I didnt get through. I had a very positive experience and each of the interviewers were very respectful and gave great feedback to my questions.

I applied through college or university. The process took 6 weeks - interviewed at EY in December 2012.

    Interview Details

Got the initial interview through university recruiting? I think, not entirely sure. Phone interview is 30 minutes. Two weeks later, heard back and was asked to do a writing assessment. I think this was the "2nd round." A few weeks later was invited to a Super Day. First there's a presentation about the company and the program. Then there are 3 interviews: 2 behavioral, 1 case study. You will DEFINITELY interview with someone (if not all) of significance. My first interview was with a partner and I completely ruined it. 2nd interview and 3rd interview (case study) went well. Greeters are young/recent grads. Extremely friendly, they bring you to eat after all the interviews.

On Campus interview followed by a super day at the company. I was interviewed by 2 managers and later on they invited us for lunch with other candidates. People are very nice. Just make sure you remember the names of the interviewers and to ask questions that are specific to the position you are interviewing for.

    Interview Questions
    • Regular questions.
Why E&Y? Why FIDs? Tell me about a time when you were working on something and thought everything was going well but at the last minute you realized that it was not going well, how did you approach the situation?

    FIDS Summer Intern Interview

I applied through college or university - interviewed at EY in September 2012.

    Interview Details

I was interviewed on-campus, after applying for the position through my university's career services department. The interviewer's technique seemed to be very cut and dry. I've participated in other interviews with the big four that seemed more like a conversation, but this one was not like that at all. The FIDS manager simply asked me questions in a very matter-of-fact manner.

Initially, I was pre screened at a job fair as a younger advisory employee directed me to have a 15 mins interview with a VP who was also at the job fair. A week later I talked with an HR phone interviewer who wanted to collect salary and location expectations and preferences. After another phone interview was an on site interview where I met with 5 VPs. Not many probing questions were asked.
