    Senior Manager, Data Science Interview

Anonymous Employee in London, England (UK)

    Average Interview

    Application

I applied through an employee referral. The process took 2 weeksinterviewed at Expedia (London, England (UK)).

    Interview

I was contacted by HR, which was followed by a subsequent interview with potential line manager. I also had to do a case study. Got very little feedback and the whole process took ages. The case study was poorly structured and formulated. I would have expected the company to want to have a face to face interview to get to know me as a person, which did not happen. Queries on what to achieve out of the case study remained unanswered as well. At the end all I was told was they were not going to proceed further without giving me any insight into why. Utterly shambolic and unprofessional.

    Content Coordinator Interview

Anonymous Interview Candidate in London, England (UK)

    Easy Interview

    Application

I applied through a staffing agency – interviewed at Expedia (London, England (UK)).

    Interview

Initially interviewed for a 6 month contract role which involved working on a large project within the Content Team. Due to the short term nature of the role, the interview was very simple with a discussion about my previous employment and degree followed by a short written test. Interviewer was one of the project managers and was very chatty and easy going. However, I've heard that the interview process is a lot more thorough for permanent roles.

    Interview

There were 2 telephone interviews, 3 face to face interviews and then one final telephone interview with the US. It was long and stressful time wise but worth it once I was offered the job.

    Interview

Not the most comprehensive interview process. Felt like I had to interject to even get a word in, which was quite strange if I'm entirely honest. That said, i did feel valued throughout he process and I enjoy working here.

    Difficult Interview

    Application

I applied through a staffing agency. The process took a weekinterviewed at Expedia (London, England (UK)) in January 2011.

    Interview

I attended 2 lengthy interviews over a 1 or 2 week period, The latter interview included me meeting with 3 people individulally each for well over an hour. I was told I would receive feedback within 48 hours of the interview. After not hearing for over 72 hours I dropped a quick note to request feedback. 4 weeks later I finally got a response asking me to come back in for a final meeting. Needless to say I declined the request and found a job elsewhere where the recruitment process was both slick and professional.

    Interview Questions

    • What's the most novel recruitment process you have gone through to fill a role.   1 Answer

    Reasons for Declining

I declined the offer due to the lack of contact for 4 weeks post interview even after chasing numerous times. I'd have hoped for a much more professional process and if that's a taste of the interviews recruiters get then I daren't think was interview process other candidates go through..

Initial discussion with recruiter. One hour discussion with hiring manager: CV background plus case studies using current examples of business challenges. Four one-hour interviews with potential future colleagues, covering previous experience. Four 30-minute phone interviews with US-based colleagues, again covering previous experience. Expedia has many MBA/ former consulting staff, so for leadership positions structured analytic skills are highly valued.
