I applied online. The process took a weekinterviewed at Farmers Insurance Group.

    Interview Details

I moved up to Washington State after completing my bachelor's degree and needed to get on the job grind quick, so I quick applied to over 50 companies on CareerBuilder in hopes for some possible employment. To my surprise, I was receiving countless phone calls, emails, and voicemails regarding possible positions for my "excellent" resume. Farmers got me first or second, so I decided to try my luck. One of the business consultants called me in for an interview for what I didnt even know I would be interviewing for at the time, so I was a bit on edge. Turns out it was to be an entry level agent and start my own business. Yeah right. They were going to make me fork out all this money to get licensed and said I needed to sell under the gun pretty much 40 car insurance and 4 housing insurance before I even received any sort of base pay as to not "embarass the company" if I were to be out on the payroll. Had a second interview with the district manager who just boasted Farmers numbers and how competitive they are. Overall negative experience and not college grad friendly as was the only reason I took the chance.

    Interview Questions
    • Most of the preliminary interview is just talking about yourself and your resume to find out if you are a good fit for an agent position.

      Second interview:
Where do you see yourself in 5 years?

How will you benefit Farmers if you are hired?

      What is your greateat weakness?

A difficult situation you had to manage?

      Why should we choose you?

Pre interview testing is required. Basic math, reading, typing and interactive review to test multitasking and coordination and a personality test. Upon "passing" they conduct a Behavioral based interview, very little personal questions about yourself. After completion there is a second interview and then you sit and watch the job for an hour or so. After all is done you either get a nice form letter email declination, or a call from HR with an offer. If accepted they do a very extensive background and credit check. No bankruptcies or criminal activity can be present.

    Interview Questions
    • Tell me a time when..... They look for the Example, the process and the final outcome. Make sure you follow through with these questions. True stories or not, they want to know what you would do to handle the situation. Whether you have done it or not.
Tell me a time when you had a confrontation with a coworker, you went above and beyond for a customer, ect.

Only concerned about getting agents signed on with virtually no support after that. Its easy to loose people when they've got no money invested in them. All licenses and study materials are out of pocket with no reimbursement offered.

I applied online. The process took 3 daysinterviewed at Farmers Insurance Group.

    Interview Details

Just a few days after submitting application to agent, I was called for a brief phone interview. We spoke 10-15 minutes, the typical basic questions. She then asked if I could come to the office for an interview with one of her staff and herself; I was able to go in that day and the interview was less than 30 minutes. Again, no surprises. She was very interested in my integrity and rather intensely watching me for responses. I was offered the job on the spot, and requested to think about my response. I accepted the next day.

    Interview Questions
    • I was asked to rank the basic responsibilities of the job in order of importance; I can't exactly remember but it was something to the effect of 'claims', 'quotes', 'current clients'..   View Answer

    Application Details

I applied through a recruiter. The process took 5 daysinterviewed at Farmers Insurance Group in October 2014.

    Interview Details

I went in just for more information about a possible customer service role with the company. They wanted to talk to me about an agency owner position so I listened to what they had to say. By the time I left I had a completely new outlook on the company itself and it made me excited for the new possibilities. The interview process was very fast and everybody I met through the company from the receptionist to the owner of the branch were extremely friendly with a no pressure atmosphere of any kind.

    Interview Questions
    • To be successful it was explained to me that you need to be willing to spend money to make money and in the end depending on your people and relationship building skills it can be a huge return but none the less I was asked if I thought I would be financially able to work there starting from the beginning before getting to the point of reaching those high returns after the initial few months of training was over.   Answer Question
