I applied through college or university. The process took 2 weeksinterviewed at Fastenal in July 2014.

    Interview Details

Applied online, received notification to apply further within a week, set up interview a week later. In person at location. Was very laid back in setting and relaxing. Interviewer did most of the talking and inquired about company knowledge. Gave clear expectations of job. It only lasted about 30 minutes in length. Given opportunity to ask questions and tour the location. All questions were answered clearly and directly. Showed enthusiasm for the company and having me join it.

I applied online. The process took a weekinterviewed at Fastenal in June 2014.

    Interview Details

Very casual interview. Asked about interests and why I wanted to be part of the company. It seemed more like a "get to know you" type interview. The interview focused more on telling me how to do the job. Again, it was almost less of an interview and more of a job training session.

I applied online. The process took 4+ weeksinterviewed at Fastenal.

First off just for part time at Fastenal, you have to take an online assessment. It isnt that hard, but you only get 2 minutes to answer each question, and they take almost the whole 2 minutes. It is just a lot of thinking and comparing. If you pass that, then your results and resume get sent to the district manager. He or she can then decide whether they call you in for an interview.
-The first interview is with the district manager. Basically ask you the typical questions like what do you know about Fastenal, why did you chose Fastenal and so on and so forth
-Then I met with the district manager for another district (why? I dont know? I wasnt going to be working in his district) I had to drive 45 mins to meet with him for literally 10 mins just for him to ask me THE EXACT same questions as the other DM did.
-The third part was meeting with the stores Manager at the store with whom they were hiring. He asked the same questions as the other 2 and then told me they would get back to me. I believe I heard back within a week.

    Interview Questions
    • I didnt have anything to difficult that was asked of me. Just make sure you know your basic facts about Fastenal and be sure to ask questions yourself.   Answer Question

Application process initially started with an online application, and then immediately afterwards a test. The interviews process consisted of three interviews, beginning with a phone interview. The entire process took about a month. Interview questions were fairly standard. They did throw in one completely odd ball question to throw you off.

Had one phone interview and one interview in person. Asked questions that were vey general and not focused on business. Very friendly people I must say but I wish they would have said I would be stocking shelves rather than getting out there to sell.

I applied online. The process took a dayinterviewed at Fastenal in May 2011.

    Interview Details

The interview was as basic as possible; the behavioral questions such as "tell me about yourself, why do you want to work here?, why should we hire you?" - those questions were ones people seeking employment should prepare for. A simple preparation for addressing these types of questions would make any interviewee a stand out candidate.

    Interview Questions
    • "Can you think of a time where you had an issue with a colleague and how the matter was resolved?"   Answer Question

There wasn't much to negotiate; the pay was good and the hours were balanced to meet my school schedule.
