I applied online and the process took 4+ weeks - interviewed at FedEx in August 2011.

Interview Details – Contacted by a recruiter to verify some information, then told to expect a call from the hiring manager. Received a call and email by an assistant same day to schedule an interview. After interview was scheduled, I received an email from the hiring manager explaining a presentation they would like me to prepare at the interview.

Contacted by someone from the same department prior to the interview that said she would be my host. She also provided some information about the interview process and what type of questions to expect.

Arrived at interview and met by host. Taken to conference room to meet panel. Started with presentation first, then asked 5-6 behavioral questions. They took very thorough notes and asked follow-up questions. After their questions, I was given an opportunity to ask any questions I had.

Hiring manager emailed and asked me to send references and set up phone interview time. Phone interview took 1 hour. Notified about 1 week later that internal candidate had been hired.

Interview Question – Give us an example of how you have had to use persuasion in the workplace.   View Answer

I applied in-person and the process took 2 days - interviewed at FedEx in May 2008.

Interview Details – The interview was both analytical and experience based. There were two of them and they each were panel interviews consisting of 3 managers that lasted about an hour. You must be willing to show success in real-world encounters, working with multiple world regions and operating companies in project management roles, and significant analytical / problem solving capabilities.

Interview Question – Describe a business case you have worked on in the past, and tell what components it included.   Answer Question

I applied online and the process took 2+ weeks - interviewed at FedEx in July 2008.

Interview Details – Everyone I spoke with was professional and timely. What I liked most was the electronic system. FedEx's system is the most effective I've seen thus far. Everything was updated on the system. Your offer even came through there. Pretty cool.

Interview Question – How would you handle push-back from a senior manager?   Answer Question

Reason for Declining – Distance, salary, responsibility

The process took 8 weeks - interviewed at FedEx.

Interview Details – After your resume is picked out of a pile from either online submissions and/or an employment agency, FedEx departments generally hire as a departmental or divisional team with little HR involvement. There will be an initial screening interview which generally lasts about 45 minutes. Typically this interview is conducted by 1-2 managers that actually work in the department/division. Goal of the interview is to judge your interst level, motivation, fit with the FedEx culture, ability to communicate and intellectual level.

If you pass round one, you will go through another prioritization round of all candidates that have passed round 1. If you make the cut, you will be asked to come back for an all day on-site interview.

There will be 1 major interview which will be in a panel interview format. Interviewers will typically have formal behaviorial questions that are scored by the team. The team may play good-cop/ bad-cop to see how the candidate handles the situation.

The rest of the day, you will have short interviews with many team members, many of whom you might actually work with if you get the job. The purpose of these interviews is to screen you for job and personality fit with the team. FedEx puts a high value on working relationships and therefore solicits feedback from team members as part of the process. Additionally, since these interviews are more relaxed, this is also an opportunity to learn positive and negative traits that may be hidden by the candidate in front of superiors.

If you pass round 2, you will go through one more prioritization round where offers will be made to candidates in priority order.

Interview Question – What is your greatest weakness? Goal of this question is to understand how well you know yourself. You are expected to answer this truthfully. If you don't answer or have a non-weakness answer (eg I work too hard or my expectations are too high), this will be seen as a concern. What do do? Give a real and valid weakness and also communicate what you have done to work towards overcoming this weakness.   Answer Question

Negotiation Details – Keep your expectations high, but don't price yourself out of range.

The process took 4 weeks - interviewed at FedEx in October 2011.

Interview Details – I had an initial phone screening with the hiring manager. This was followed up by an all day interview three weeks later. The interview consisted of two assessments and a panel interview with behavioral questions. One was how many gas stations are there in the US. I also got to meet one on one with potential peers, and go to lunch with them. Good experience, just very long and intense to have not been offered the job.
