    Application

I applied through a recruiter. The process took 4 weeks. I interviewed at Fidelity Investments.

    Interview

First, Phone interview. 2nd, interview with multiple managers, including hiring manager. I would say the only frustrating things about the process was it felt very inefficient. I felt things could have been done in a panel setting rather than multiple interviews.

    Interview

I applied on the fidelity website and heard back within hours. They set up an initial call to tell me more about the position and make sure I was still interested. Then I had my first interview over the phone. It took about 40 minutes and the lady was very nice. She asked very basic behavioral interview questions. At the end of the call she asked me to set up an in person interview. It was set up for 2 weeks out. It consisted of a tour of the fidelity office and a meeting with two managers along with a presentation to learn more about fidelity. The last step was taking a simple critical thinking test. Overall a good experience.

What are your qualifications? Connect your close fit between the job’s requirements and your qualifications. Ask what specific projects or problems you may be expected to deal with and which have the highest priority. Identify the projects you’ve accomplished in the past that qualify you to work successfully on the projects the interviewer mentioned. How did you resolve a tense situation with a coworker? Have you ever had to fire someone? Give a specific example of a difficulty that you’ve dealt with (conflict resolution or discipline), focusing on how you used your analytical skills to effectively solve the problem. Illustrate how you go about collecting information, stating the steps you took to help the fired person improve and save his or her job before making a termination decision. Emphasize that you follow company policy and that you’re fair and tactful in dealing with employee problems. Based on your experience, what problems do team-focused companies face? Document, with storytelling, that your experience includes being a successful leader or member of teams. Discuss teams as an overall positive factor in the work world of the 21st century. Discuss a minor negative aspect of teams and show how that negative aspect can be overcome. Describe a time that you had to work without direct supervision. Have you ever had to make department decisions when your supervisor was not available? Discuss your decision-making process. You don’t rattle easily. Show that you’re self-directed and self-motivated, but still willing to follow others’ directions or to ask for assistance when needed. Storytell: Discuss a specific example of a time you had to make a decision without supervision. Preferably, discuss a time that you anticipated company needs and finished a project ahead of time or made a beneficial decision. Have you ever misjudged something? How could you have prevented the mistake? Briefly discuss a specific — but minor — example. Briefly discuss what the mistake taught you and how it led you to improve your system for making decisions or solving problems. After talking about your example and what you learned from it, refocus the discussion on your accomplishments.

    Financial Advisor Interview

    Application

I applied through a recruiter. The process took 2 weeks. I interviewed at Fidelity Investments (Merrimack, NH) in July 2015.

    Interview

Started with a phone interview, then met with someone from the hiring department, then your third process is meeting with two hiring managers. When you meet with the person from the hiring department, it is generally pretty easy, it did not last very long at all, she asked me about my resume and what I knew about Fidelity. My third interview with the two hiring managers was another story. One of the hiring managers seemed to be new or training to be a manager (he was the one asking the questions), and there was another hiring manager (a little older, and he was basically studying me the whole time). That individual interview only lasted a few minutes (they only have a maximum of 10 minutes with you anyways). Always being two copies of a resume and stress customer service if you are interviewing for the same position as a financial advisor (customer service).

    Easy Interview

    Application

I applied through a recruiter. The process took 3 days. I interviewed at Fidelity Investments (Merrimack, NH) in July 2015.

    Interview

I was surprised to find out when I arrived, that I was one of 10 people who would be interviewing at the same time. We were then all brought into a room, explained that this was a temp to perm, that the pay rate was $18 and we would be taken 1 by 1 for an interview with the recruiter who would then decide if we were worthy of going onto the next round. We were to expect that this "interview" with the recruiter would last no more than 10 mins. Once in the room, the recruiter read from my resume as if she had never seen it before, asked questions about my prior roles. She then continued to say ok well i think given your experience you will go onto the next round with the managers. This was concerning because i had already spoken to a recruiter on the phone prior to this interview and went over all this. So now I needed to come in again. I received an email the following day that I would be moving on to the next round and to be there the following day at 8:30 for interviews with managers that will start at 9. This would be the same situation as before, two managers meeting with another 10 or so candidates. I replied that I was unavailable that day and time and would like to come in the following week, the response, no sorry this is the only time. Good luck in the future.

Leap Associate - TIE Track Interview

    Easy Interview

    Application

I applied through a recruiter. The process took a week. I interviewed at Fidelity Investments (Durham, NC) in July 2015.

    Interview

I was able to get the Interview easily because I started as an intern at Fidelity. Unlike other Leap tracks, the TIE (Technology Infrastructure & Engineering) track has you interview directly with each particular team. Out of the six teams made available to me, I interviewed with two of them -- one interview was two hours long (30 minutes with 4 different interviewers) and the other was an hour & a half (a panel). We mostly spoke about their team, what they do, and what skills I could bring to them. The interview that got me the offer for was with a Project Management team. As long as you're confident in yourself & your skills, the interview will be a breeze! Most interviews with Fidelity are easy in a sense that the interviewers are laid back & genuinely interested in learning about who you are. They want you to find the right fit, so as long as you know what you want to do within IT (or whatever career path you're targeting), you'll be just fine. The interview questions were almost entirely behavioral based. Most managers want to hire someone who can get along with the team, who are willing to learn, and who are willing to be self-sufficient in their work. And do NOT show up to the interview not prepared with questions! This goes for any interview for any job, to show interest, you want to come prepare with a few questions about the company, the job role, or even about the interviewer and how they feel about this career.

    Application

I applied in-person. The process took 3 weeks. I interviewed at Fidelity Investments in July 2015.

    Interview

I was an Intern at the time I applied, so the process is differs. I had a 30 minute technical interview, followed by a 30 minute behavioral interview. Both were easy because the interviewers were friendly and asked the right questions. It felt less like an interview and more of just a conversation. These interviews were in person.

    Interview Questions

    • One question dealt with inner loops and functions. Pretty straight forward.   Answer Question
    • They give you a sheet of data and ask how to break the data into classes   Answer Question
    • The behavioral part was more asking about my team experience in previous jobs and current internship.   Answer Question
