OM Cerk Interview

Anonymous Interview Candidate
Austin, TX

I applied online and the process took 4+ weeks - interviewed at Flextronics in January 2014.

Interview Details – I had initial interviews through AeroTek staffing and then went to meet 3 managers at FlexTronics. The interviews themselves were pretty easy as I had plenty of experience to articulate. The managers mainly just wanted to see if I could do the job.

Customer Service Technician Interview

Anonymous Interview Candidate

I applied through a recruiter and the process took 1+ week - interviewed at Flextronics in November 2013.

Interview Details – I was approached via email by one of their recruiters. Had a very pleasant phone screen interview with the recruiter, who scheduled an interview with the local site manager. That's when the process began to go awry. First, the site manager said he didn't know I was coming. He basically painted a picture of burnt out employees not meeting their goals because they were so under-staffed. Then he asked a question concerning my age that was out and out discriminatory. I didn't receive an offer and I'm glad - I left the site planning to decline any offer.

Interview Question – "You're much older than my other employees. How do you get along with younger co-workers?"   View Answer

I applied through an employee referral and the process took 3 weeks - interviewed at Flextronics in July 2013.

Interview Details – I got called in twice to their Austin office for face-to-face interviews. The first one was with a senior manager, and the second with the person who I would have reported to had I been offered the job. Both the interviews were behavioral based and I wasn't asked any questions that really threw me off. Two weeks after the second interview, I called my interviewer and was told that although I was more qualified, they went ahead with another candidate because he/she had more suitable past work experiences.

Senior Director, Marketing Interview

Anonymous Interview Candidate

I applied through a recruiter and the process took 1 week - interviewed at Flextronics in September 2012.

Interview Details – The HR department was fast-tracking interviews, so scheduled six interviews over two days upon contact. There was clearly a lack of coordination between those running the interview process and the employees with whom I met. Each of the employees seemed to be sincere, and a couple seemed to be high caliber.

But there were a few things that were bothersome. First, one of the HR reps was derisive when referencing a former company I'd worked with and some of the policies it had for remote work situations. The response was unprofessional - especially in the Valley, where so many companies offer such arrangements. There were a few other points like this where HR was underwhelming. But one of the bigger issues I had was the lack of responsiveness from the employees when I sent each a personal thank you for their time. Perhaps they just realized I wasn't going to be the guy they hired and they thought they'd save the two minutes; but whatever the case, it was rare for me to not receive at least a brief "ditto - good luck" note back. Anyway - no sour grapes. It wasn't a good cultural fit for me personally (appeared very big, bureaucratic from interviews), and most of those whom I interviewed with seemed capable. Had I received an offer, there's a fair chance I'd have taken it. But I wouldn't have bent over backward to reach terms - it didn't seem like *that* great of a place.

Manager Interview

Anonymous Interview Candidate
Fremont, CA

The process took a day - interviewed at Flextronics in June 2011.

Interview Details – Interview began at 1pm and ended at 4pm. No offer of a break in between. Interviewed throughout the day with several people from various functions. Everyone appeared to be open and honest about their perception of the company, which was not 100% positive. After the interview, f/u thank you emails sent to each person in the interview process. Followed up in email and phone calls to the manager & HR. So far, no response from either. Therefore, overall interview experience was negative because of the lack of common courtesy of a response to this job seeker.

Mobile Tech Interview

Anonymous Interview Candidate
Los Angeles, CA

I applied through an employee referral and the process took 3 weeks - interviewed at Flextronics in December 2010.

Interview Details – An employee referral led me to an interview with some guy from Florida. The recruiter arranged the date. I sat through a two hour interview as he went over my resume which had about 15 years worth of electronics and field tech experience. Turns out these guys had an internmal applicant that was going to get the job all along---2700 miles away in New York. How unprofessional, stringing a guy who's looking for work and probably more qualified than the internal applicant and giving it away to someone who has no geographical knowledge of the area that has to be navigated on a daily basis.

Interview Question – Definition of "maturity".   Answer Question
