The guy did the interview told me that they had filled that job and so I left and they called me a day later and had a opening so I went back to fill out paper application it took me 3 tries to get every thing done. I applied in-person and the process took 8 months - interviewed at G4S in April 2012.

Interview Details – I interviewed with them twice because of a mistake on their part.
First time the ad for the job just said to drop of our resume at the location. When I got there, I was ask to stay since the Branch Manager was in town and wanted to conduct on the spot interviews. So then I was escorted into a room with at least 20 other people.
Then I was given a questionnaire to fill out. After I was done, about 30 minutes later I was escorted to the Branch Manager and given an interview.
I can tell you that they go off of a standard list, asking basic questions like “Why do you want this job?” or “What experiences do you have that qualifies you for this job?”
After that, I was brought back into the room, and waited as the others were interviewed. After another 40 minutes, they finished the interviews and then accounted the people that they wanted to offer jobs to.
I was given a form to fill out and was told to wait 2-3 weeks to hear back about setting up a time to go to a city across the state for training.
About 3 weeks later, I called them to inquire about when I was supposed to go to training. I was told that they “lost” my contact information and therefore hired someone else.
I went in about 8 months later, and that time around I was the only one there. I was interviewed, then offered a job. The next week I was reporting for training

Traditional Security Officer Interview

I applied online and the process took 1+ week - interviewed at G4S.

Interview Details – Was called shortly after submitting the application online to set up an interview. Atmosphere at the home office was laid back and generally unprofessional.

The interview itself was basic, the interviewer asking vague pre-scripted questions such as "What are your strengths? What are your weaknesses?" etc. Interviewer consistently apologized for having to ask the what she called the 'stupid' questions that she 'was required to ask' during the interview, which I found to be a little strange.

Called to follow up more than a week after the interview, HR apologized for not having communicated and requested my return to the office to sign more paperwork. Job offer letter was provided upon getting there.

The most absurd aspect of the hiring process was that they had no uniforms on-hand that fit me and had to order them. This in itself is no entirely unexpected but I went nearly 1 month of working on-site before finally receiving my uniform. In that 1 month span of time I had to provide my own clothes closest to representing their current uniform, which for me was my own nice black suit (way better quality than the uniforms provided) which I had to risk damaging every day I was working because no substitute was offered by the company (All I got from the home office was an insincere apology from HR).

This aforementioned experience helped to set the precedent of how I would feel about the company and the job in the latter months to come.

Interview Question – None, unless you have difficulty answering questions like: "What are your strengths? What are your weaknesses? What experience do you bring to the table?" and so forth.   Answer Question

Negotiation Details – None, pay was set during posting of position and negotiation was declined upon inquiry.

Upscale Security Officer Interview

Upscale Security Officer
Cleveland, OH

I applied online - interviewed at G4S in April 2014.

Interview Details – Online application process was unexpectedly detailed so have detailed records of work history, residential; driving record on hand for 7 years minimum. I filled out the application over the weekend and was contacted the following Monday; interviewed the next day. Interviewer was very cordial; questions were typical and also easy. Job offer was made contingent on extensive background verification. So far I have not heard back.

Interview Question – The most difficult for me is about previous employers and G4S will ask. I did have a very "bad fit" situation a few years ago and I do know that employer gives very derogatory information about former employees. I probably should have risked being seen as unprofessional and explained the situation but it was a lot to explain and I really did not want to be as unprofessional as they are. It likely cost me the job.   View Answer

Negotiation Details – Very easy; I felt like I could have negotiated more but I really like the company; I was offered a fair rate of pay so no negotiation. We dicussed site posts and hours; flexible schedules are a big plus with this company. The offer is contingent on full background investigation (work history, education, criminal, driving record, credit, references). If I am called back there will likely be a psychological evaluation, drug screening and physical test.

I applied online and the process took 3 days - interviewed at G4S in May 2013.

Interview Details – They respond quickly to applications, it took less than a day for mine. The interview is straight forward they ask you about ambitions and past experiences. The last thing they will ask is if your willing to use lethal force as part of your job.

Interview Question – The most difficult question will probably be about how long you plan to stay with the company or what they can do to get you to stay with the company.   Answer Question
